His sister asks him for money all the time, but she hasn’t done any of the work to better herself or her position in life. After a while, he stopped sending her money because he knew that it would just go to waste.
“I still buy some groceries, clothes, and other stuff for my nieces and nephews, but I no longer give her money,” he said.
Recently, however, she found out that he and Emily have been spending quite a bit of money toward helping Tom and Rachel get back on their feet.
His sister called him up, yelling at him for doing more for his wife’s “useless” brother than he does for his own sister. She felt like he was neglecting her and her children by not giving them any money.
“I told her that I’m going more for Tom because he appreciates what I’m doing and is working to fix his life while she and her useless husband do absolutely nothing to change her situation,” he stated.
His sister then hung up on him and proceeded to call other relatives to explain the situation. His aunt ended up calling him and told him that he needed to start being a better brother to his sister.
Do you think that it is rude of him to support Tom but not his own sister? Or do you think it’s reasonable, given his sister’s history?
