This man’s brother had a lot of ups and downs with his now ex-wife before they eventually filed for divorce.

In his opinion, both his brother and his former sister-in-law were to blame, and both of them made a lot of mistakes, so he doesn’t think that either of the two could claim otherwise.

Since his brother made a lot more money than his ex, several times over, the court ordered him to pay his ex alimony.

Because his brother and his ex were married for less than a decade, this meant that he needed to keep up with alimony payments for half the amount of time that their marriage lasted.

This month is the final time that his brother will have to pay alimony to his ex-wife. In celebration of this, he and some other friends are planning to throw an end-of-alimony party for his brother.

“We’re planning a week-long stay in Vegas at the Wynn and will chip in to fully cover his end,” he said.

The plan is for the trip to happen at the end of September, and there are over 12 guys who are going. So, they’ve been texting each other and discussing the details so that they have everything organized.

When he and the guys first came up with the party idea in the first place, he told his girlfriend about it, and she wasn’t thrilled.

It had nothing to do with him going on a vacation with just his male friends because he and his girlfriend have gone on separate trips in the past with no problems.

“She was unhappy with the theme and said it was in bad taste,” he explained.

He didn’t feel the same way, and they had multiple talks about it before deciding to just drop the subject since neither of them could accept the other person’s perspective.

This past Friday, his girlfriend was watching some TV shows on his phone when he received a text message from one of the guys who was going on the trip to Vegas.

“He sent a picture he designed for a shirt we’re planning to have made for him to wear. The gist of the design is that he’s free of alimony payments and can afford to eat again, with some graphics,” he shared.

“It was in a group text, and the other guys texted their robust approval. This sent my girlfriend into a rage I’ve never seen before.”

They fought about the issue throughout the entire weekend. They had planned to go to dinner with some of their friends, but due to their continuous arguing, they had to cancel.

He felt like the fight was finally winding down, but this morning, he and his girlfriend were both getting ready for work, and she refused to talk to him, even when he was asking her questions.

Now, his girlfriend wants him to cancel the trip altogether. Plus, she wants him to own up to the fact (in her mind) that he and his group of friends are “celebrating something so painful.”

From his perspective, his girlfriend’s assessment of the situation isn’t accurate. He doesn’t want to cancel this trip, and his brother seems thrilled to finally be done paying his ex-wife alimony. In his view, his brother doesn’t seem to be hurting.

He doesn’t understand why his girlfriend is so furious because she isn’t connected to the situation in any way.

She also doesn’t know his brother’s ex-wife because they’d already ended their marriage before she met him.

Do you think he’s wrong for throwing his brother an end-of-alimony party?
