She Called Her Mom Out For Faking Her Own Weight Loss After Her Mom Fat-Shamed Her

Last night, this woman was going through her usual nighttime routine in her bathroom with the door ajar.
She was already dressed in her pajamas, which consisted of sweatpants and a sports bra.
“My mom walked by, poked my stomach, and said, ‘Wow, you need to get back into the gym,'” she said.
All of her life, she has been incredibly insecure about her weight. She clarified that she doesn’t suffer from obesity, and she’s 5’5” and about 140 pounds, so her health hasn’t been negatively affected due to her weight.
Last year, she felt confident in how much progress she was making with her gym workouts.
However, the last several months have been difficult for her.
“My mom was overweight, so she started using these weight loss shots, which, whatever. I didn’t mind if it helped her be healthier, but the thing is, she would always rub it in my face,” she explained.
Throughout her own weight loss journey, she stuck to regular exercise and changing up her diet, so the progress she made was at a slower pace.
On the other hand, because her mother was utilizing other methods that could be deemed “artificial,” her weight loss was more dramatic and rapid.

Constantly, her mother asked her to tell her how many pounds she’d lost, and her mother would brag about how much weight she’d lost, even though she wasn’t changing her eating or exercising habits at all in order to do so.
Understandably, this was difficult for her to see because she was putting in a lot of effort and time to work out and eat a more balanced diet, but she couldn’t help feeling inadequate since her mother was losing more weight than she was.
Her mother’s comment about her body went too far and deeply offended her because her mother is well aware of how much she struggles to love her body.
“I looked at her and just said how rude that was and asked her to leave. She said it wasn’t rude if she was simply concerned about my health. To me, her comment did not seem to have anything to do with my health but everything to do with my appearance,” she shared.
When her mother said that, she felt like she was nearly on the verge of tears. She’s not sure if she was being overdramatic, but in her view, her mother’s comments were incredibly impolite and cruel.
In response, she told her mother that her weight loss was “fake” and told her that she didn’t have anything to feel proud of herself for because she didn’t extend any effort into living healthier.
Her mother was furious, and they started arguing back and forth. Now, she’s wondering whether she was wrong for what she told her mother. What would you have done if you were in her shoes?
