This 24-year-old woman is currently engaged to her fiancé Adrien, who is 25. And while preparing for her big day, she scored big by finding and purchasing a vintage wedding gown for only $1,200 on Etsy.
Afterward, she asked her future sister-in-law Silena, who is 22, to store the dress for her while she and Adrien worked on deep cleaning their closet.
“So it didn’t get damaged and wasn’t hanging around for anyone besides immediate family or close friends to see,” she recalled.
Well, she and her fiancé went to his sister’s house just yesterday to pick up the gown, and she was so excited to get the dress back in order to show it to her mom.
Upon arrival, though, she was shocked and horrified. Apparently, her sister-in-law claimed to have “modernized” the dress while it was at her house.
“My sister-in-law had gutted it. It was now essentially a mini dress with barely any resemblance to what it was previously,” she revealed.
After seeing the dress, she immediately began freaking out on her sister-in-law, too, claiming that Silena had absolutely no right to do that to her gown without asking. She also accused Silena of ruining her wedding dress.
However, her sister-in-law didn’t even apologize. Instead, Silena just started “complaining” and claiming that the “modernized” dress was supposed to be a surprise engagement gift!
Silena also tried to get her fiancé to defend the dress destruction, too, but thankfully, Adrien sided with her– telling his sister that she really stepped over the line.

“Which surprised me because he’s pretty protective over his sister,” she admitted.
Anyway, after that, she left her sister-in-law’s house without a wedding dress; meanwhile, Silena just kept muttering about how she’d been done a “favor.”
It wasn’t until later that same evening that she had the idea to make her sister-in-law pay for a new wedding dress. Plus, she even had another dress in mind that she’d been eyeing– and it even cost less money.
So, after having that epiphany, she proposed the idea to her fiancé, and he agreed with her, claiming that Silena should be responsible for paying for her new dress after ruining her first one.
That’s why she proceeded to text Silena a link to her new wedding dress and ask her to foot the bill for the gown.
Well, Silena’s response was not what she’d anticipated or wanted.
“Silena texted back, saying that she wouldn’t pay for the replacement dress and that I should be fine with wearing the first one or paying for the replacement dress myself,” she explained.
This pushed her and her future sister-in-law to get into a fight over text, too, and eventually, Silena just stopped answering her– leaving her messages on “read.”
Since then, her future mother-in-law has also gotten involved after hearing about the situation from Silena.
Her mother-in-law has taken Silena’s side, too, claiming that the alterations were a “sweet gift,” so Silena shouldn’t have to pay for the new dress.
This led her to ask Adrien again if making Silena pay for the new dress was the right thing to do, but he told her to hold her ground.
“He said that I should stick to my plans of making Silena pay for it, but now that my future mother-in-law is involved, I’m reconsidering it,” she vented.
So now, she’s feeling conflicted, and she isn’t sure if wanting her sister-in-law to pay for her replacement wedding dress after “modernizing” her first one is unreasonable or not.
Do you think her sister-in-law had a right to tamper with her wedding gown? How would you feel in her shoes? Should her sister-in-law pay for the replacement dress?
