He Told His Girlfriend He Wasn’t Going To Read Her Son A Bedtime Story Since The Kid Is Her Responsibility, Not His

For approximately a year now, this 30-year-old guy has been dating his 26-year-old girlfriend. His girlfriend has a 7-year-old son from a previous relationship, and he’s not exactly close with this kid, but they are on friendly terms.
This past Wednesday night, he got home from work super late. It was around 9 p.m. when he walked through the door, and his girlfriend was already home.
His girlfriend always gets home at around 4 p.m., and that night, she looked particularly exhausted.
In a very stressed voice, his girlfriend requested that he go read her son a bedtime story so she could quickly hop in the shower.
He mentioned to his girlfriend that he could do that after he ate dinner, but she replied back that she was so stressed that day she had no time to cook dinner for them.
“I felt frustrated with her as I had worked for about 13 hours straight, so I told her that if she couldn’t even put some time aside to do one little thing for me, I would not do anything for her either, as I know now where her priorities lie,” he explained.
“She raised her voice at me and told me to just please read her son a bedtime story so she could shower and then she would make a quick meal for me. I told her sorry, but no, it is her kid and her responsibility.”
“She stopped whining there and then and went with her son to put him to bed. She did not shower, nor did she make me a meal.”
Later on when he climbed into bed, he could tell his girlfriend was awake, yet pretending to be asleep.

It’s been days since this all happened, and his girlfriend has hardly said a word to him. She also has not been sleeping in their room but is sleeping in her son’s room instead.
He can’t see how he was wrong in this situation, but his girlfriend is sure acting like he’s the bad guy here.
“I had been working for a long time; she had been off work and hadn’t even done basic tasks, then expected me to do something when I worked that long. I feel like she was unreasonable,” he concluded.
