For a bit more than a year now, this 26-year-old man has been dating his 24-year-old girlfriend.

Not too long ago, his girlfriend brought up the fact that she’s concerned about how expensive it is for her to take a medical licensing exam.

Then, she sort of joked about needing to find a man to pay for all of her expenses, but she was clearly serious about it.

Finally, she remarked that it would be wonderful to be with a man who could financially support her as she attends medical school since she will be making a lot of money after she graduates and becomes a doctor.

“I told her even though the fees are expensive, she should see this as an investment for her future when she becomes a successful doctor,” he explained.

“She proceeded to make a comment about how I don’t see a future in our relationship because I’m not financially supporting her.”

“Currently, I work as a software engineer, and we live in an apartment together where I cover most of the rent and all the utilities. So her comment felt like a slap in the face just because I didn’t offer to pay her exam fees.”

If he was married or engaged to his girlfriend, that would be a different story; he would be happy to pay for her as she goes through medical school.

That way, it would at least be building for their combined future together, but that’s not the case. They have only been dating for about a year, and he’s not ready to get engaged or married to her right now.
