I was never preppy when I was still in school. I was the opposite, wearing funky patterns and t-shirts in middle school. But I’d be lying if I said I never had a bit of a desire to channel some of the iconic preppy Upper East Side girls I’d see on my television.
You don’t have to come from old money or live in a big city to dress like a preppy person. You can easily channel preppy icons without transforming your entire lifestyle.

A button-down shirt and skinny jeans
This is one of the easiest ways to channel a preppy girl. This a great outfit for casual Friday that will still make you feel sophisticated and bougie. Tuck your button-down into your skinny jeans and finish the look with some tall riding-style boots or trendy loafers.
Sweater vest and trousers
Few things scream ‘preppy’ more than a great sweater vest. To feel like a preppy icon while staying on trend, wear a t-shirt or long sleeve under your sweater vest and pair it with great wide-leg trousers.

You can keep this look more casual with a pair of sneakers or dress it up with kitten heels.
A skirt and ruffled socks
To channel a preppy schoolgirl, you’re going to need a skirt. Pair a simple top with a skirt and cardigan as a good base, then seal the deal with a pair of ruffled ankle socks and loafers or Mary Janes.
