While Watching Her Grandma’s Chihuahua, Her Boyfriend Said He Didn’t Like “Spoiled Purse Dogs” And Made The Pup Sleep Outside In The Cold

As a proud Chihuahua-mix owner, I can say that they’re an underrated and misunderstood dog breed, as while they have a reputation for being annoying yappers, they can be incredibly sweet, affectionate, and adorable.

One woman recently kicked her boyfriend out of her house in the middle of the night after she discovered he left her grandma’s chihuahua, whom they were responsible for watching, tied up outside while he slept.

Her grandma owns a five-year-old chihuahua named Jennie, whom she spoils and loves very much. Her grandpa passed away, so her grandma only lives with Jennie.

Recently, her grandma had to have surgery, and she asked her and her boyfriend to watch Jennie at their house while she recovered.

Unfortunately, Kevin, her boyfriend of two years, wasn’t happy about that.

“He’s not allergic or anything [but] he said he wasn’t a huge fan of spoiled ‘purse dogs’ who do anything but yap,” she said.

“I guess I can understand that, so I told him I’d do everything to take care of Jennie. It was only for a few days, so he agreed. Jennie has a specific diet prepared by my grandma. If I do it wrong, Jennie [will] refuse to eat or have a mini tantrum. It’s a bit of a pain, but it’s important to Grandma, so I just do what the instructions she gave me say.

She sleeps in a blanket-filled crate on the side table right next to the bed [and] Kevin kept complaining even though I was doing all the work.”

While Kevin’s refusal to help her with Jennie irritated her, she figured she’d ignore him since Jennie wouldn’t be with them long. However, one night, when she was stuck at work until the middle of the night, she needed Kevin to step in and help.

He said he could take care of Jennie for one night since he had all the instructions from my grandma.

“By the time I finished, I was still alert, so I decided to drive home,” she recalled.

“Kevin was deep asleep with Jennie’s crate still on my side table. It was dark, but I assumed she was sleeping as well. Around 3:00 am, I decided to get a snack in the kitchen [and] heard scratching on the back porch door. I opened it, and Jennie was there, whimpering and shaking like a leaf. I live pretty far up north, so it was literally 35 degrees out. She had her leash on, and the other end was wrapped around one of the back porch pillars.”

After she woke him up, Kevin told her he had fallen asleep watching a movie that night and had even forgotten to feed Jennie. Then, when he woke up for a moment, she begged him for attention, and he got annoyed, so he tied her up outside with a couple of towels for her to lie on before going back to bed.

She was furious when she heard this story from a groggy Kevin, as something devastating could’ve happened. Jennie could have frozen to death or been attacked by some kind of animal if she hadn’t come home.

“She’s literally spent a good 60% of her life in little sweaters my grandma gets her [so] she must’ve been miserable,” she added.

“She even flinched when Kevin got up to walk towards me. He said his dogs as a kid were just fine sleeping outside, [but of course] they were fine, he grew up on a farm [and] hey were all bred working dogs who at least had a barn to sleep in.”

After arguing back and forth with Kevin, she snapped when he told her she was just as “annoying” as the dog, so she made him leave their house then and there when it was still a little after 3:00 am. Thankfully, Jennie is safe and home with her grandma, but Kevin and some of their friends are angry with her for what she did to him.

Was she wrong to kick Kevin out of their house in the middle of the night, or would you have reacted similarly?
