Born on March 8, 2001, Jorden Shyann Nebling of South Carolina grew up in foster care. Then, both she and her older sister were adopted by their stepmother, Mary Tucker.

Jorden reportedly had a tough time as a teenager, struggling with drug abuse. But, by the time she was 19-years-old, she was working to turn her life around before she tragically disappeared.

“At that point when she went missing, she had just got a job, and she just took a drug test, and she was not doing drugs, and she was so happy,” recalled Mary.

In the week leading up to Jorden’s disappearance, she and Mary had actually been texting consistently. Apparently, they coordinated plans for Mary to pick up Jorden. That way, she could go to her little brother’s birthday party.

“She was so happy… She was so excited to start that job. She was so charismatic… She didn’t have enemies. Like, she might get in little fights with somebody, but the next week, they would be friends again. People couldn’t stay mad at her. And everybody wanted to be her friend,” Mary explained.

However, in early October of 2020, everything changed. It all began on October 9, when Jorden and a man she’d been seeing borrowed a car in order to drive from Travelers Rest, South Carolina, to visit some friends in Cowpens.

At some point after they arrived, the man left Cowpens to travel home with a different friend; meanwhile, Jorden stayed in Cowpens and planned to drive the borrowed car home to Travelers Rest alone the following morning.

But, after she set out on October 10 to travel back, the vehicle broke down in front of a residence in Travelers Rest located near the Old Whitehouse Road Extension.

A resident of the home reportedly spoke to Jorden, who claimed someone was going to come and pick up the vehicle. Then, at 1:30 p.m. that day, the resident watched as a man arrived to pick up Jorden, and she got in his car.

After this, Jorden was never seen or heard from again.

Following Jorden’s disappearance, her sister couldn’t get in touch with her for weeks. So, her sister told their stepmother, Mary, and asked for help.

According to Mary, Jorden had been staying with her biological mom leading up to her disappearance, and when Jorden didn’t return home, her biological mom reportedly believed she’d simply “run off and would come back.” That’s why Jorden was not immediately reported missing.

“I said, ‘Well, that’s not acceptable. She needs to be reported missing, so I’ll report her missing,” Mary explained.

So, on November 8, 2020, she contacted the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office and filed a missing person report.

Upon launching an investigation, authorities figured out that Jorden had contacted her ex-boyfriend, Tyler Wilkens, after the borrowed car broke down, and he picked her up afterward. Tyler and Jorden reportedly dated for two years and lived together for a brief period when she was 17 years old.

When speaking with police, Tyler claimed that he and Jorden had gotten into an argument after he’d already driven her back to his place. So, she allegedly left his home.

Two years after Jorden disappeared, on November 10, 2022, Tyler was subsequently arrested and charged in relation to a different case involving his girlfriend, Clarissa Michelle, and their newborn son. He was charged with kidnapping, murder, and child neglect.

Tyler was reportedly accused of confining Clarissa inside one of his relative’s homes. Then, he reportedly “proceeded to assault her using blunt force trauma, resulting in her death,” according to court documents.

One month prior to Tyler’s arrest, Mary claimed to believe that he was in some way responsible for Jorden’s disappearance.

“In my heart, I think he did something to her. He had a history of being abusive… and police have searched his property. I know that they dug up a concrete pad in the driveway that he had recently put down close to when she went missing. And I know that the police focused a lot on talking to him,” she said.

“But unfortunately, Travelers – this is a very, very remote area.”

Additionally, while foul play is suspected in Jorden’s case, authorities have uncovered no evidence, and her ex has not been charged in relation to her disappearance. So, the exact circumstances surrounding her disappearance remain unknown, and her case is still unsolved.

Jorden’s loved ones have created a Facebook page entitled Find Jorden Nebling to raise awareness about her case. Back in April, a Change.org petition was also posted on the page with the goal of amplifying efforts to solve Jorden’s disappearance.

“We are calling on local law enforcement agencies and community members in Greenville, SC, to intensify their efforts in investigating Jorden’s case. We believe that with renewed focus and commitment, we can bring Jorden home or at least provide some much-needed answers,” the petition reads.

“Let us ensure that Jorden Nebling is not forgotten – that she is more than just a statistic among thousands of unresolved missing person cases nationwide. Let us stand together as a community committed to justice for all its members.”

At the time she vanished, Jorden was five foot five, weighed 110 pounds, and had blonde hair and blue eyes. She also had a tattoo on her left forearm of the phrase, “Live free.”

If you have any information regarding her case, you are urged to contact the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office at (864) 271-5210.
