His girlfriend tried to explain how she just wanted to make sure their relationship was serious before bringing up the fact that she was a parent. Apparently, she’d had some bad experiences with men in the past who disappeared as soon as they found out she had a child.
She also claimed that she was planning on telling him soon but simply didn’t know how to bring it up. Despite that, he just needed some time to process everything – and he told his girlfriend that.
Afterward, he took a few days to reflect on their relationship and figure out whether he was ready to be in a relationship with someone who had a kid.
“I realized that, at this point in my life, I’m not prepared for that level of responsibility and commitment,” he admitted.
This led him to break up with his girlfriend, and while she was devastated, she was actually really nice and understanding of his feelings. She even said that she appreciated his honesty.
“But despite her understanding, I could see how much it affected her,” he vented.
Their mutual friend is also angry at him now – calling him a jerk for leading his girlfriend on. His friend even said that he should’ve just given their relationship a chance.
So now, he can’t help but wonder if breaking up with his girlfriend after finding out she had a son was really the wrong thing to do.
