Back when this 32-year-old woman was 14, her parents had an oops, and her little sister Jenna was born.

Given their large age gap, she never formed a close bond with Jenna. I mean, her little sister was only four-years-old when she moved out of their family home to attend college.

The last time she saw Jenna or spoke to her parents was about eight years ago, as she decided to cut her mom and dad out of her life.

A couple of months ago, Jenna found out that she was pregnant during her senior year of high school, and her parents made Jenna homeless over the unexpected news.

Jenna couch-surfed with a friend for the following weeks and then called her through social media.

She was surprised to witness Jenna reaching out to her, but she responded to her little sister. She and Jenna spoke for more than an hour as Jenna sobbed and filled her in on the details.

“She was pregnant, had no family except me, and she’s just a teenager,” she explained. ‘It broke my heart, and the next day, we met up for the first time in years.”

“Seeing how much she’d changed since the last time I saw her broke my heart. Because of my parents and an issue that happened with them that I won’t get into here, I missed getting to see my baby sister grow up.”

Jenna informed her that she would have to skip out on going to college, despite her stellar grades and acceptance into a bunch of schools, because of the baby since she had to find a job to support herself and her unborn son.

She felt super upset for her little sister, and when she arrived back home, she told her husband all about Jenna’s misfortunes.

She actually suggested to her husband that perhaps Jenna could live in their guest house, and he quickly shut her down.

“For a little bit of context, me and my husband are very well off as we both worked high-paying jobs,” she said.

“We have two daughters aged 5 and 6, and after my youngest was born, we came to the mutual agreement that he would be a SAHD, and I would continue to work as my salary was over double what his was.”

“Even with him at home, we have enough to afford a large house and a guest house in the backyard (which I am extremely grateful for).”

Her husband revealed his concern: mainly, having Jenna and a newborn would add a ton of stress to their household.

She was able to guilt her husband into saying yes, and then Jenna moved right into the guest house.

She and Jenna quickly formed a close relationship. She was the one who attended Jenna’s high school graduation. She was the one who helped Jenna get enrolled in a college a couple of minutes from their home. She was the one there when Jenna gave birth to her son, Daniel.

She organized a crib in the guest house right next to where Jenna sleeps, and she was under the impression everything was going great.

Prior to Jenna starting college, she helped to watch Daniel. But after Jenna began her classes, she could no longer step in, as Jenna goes to college in the morning when she’s at work.

That meant her husband had to pitch in with Daniel, but since their youngest child is now in kindergarten, her husband has tons of alone time.

Eventually, her husband got irritated with having to watch Daniel, even though he only has to do this for less than four hours in the morning.

One evening, her husband actually screamed at her that he’s suffering because Jenna is a freeloader who made the dumb choice to get knocked up.

He then went on a tirade about all the money they need to spend on Jenna and Daniel.

“I tried to stay calm and reminded him that she’s still just 18, and frankly, she works harder than he does,” she added.

“It would be a different situation if we couldn’t afford it, and she wasn’t showing any initiative, but that isn’t the case. She takes college classes, works six nights a week, and still is a great mom to her son.”

“She has shown us nothing but gratitude and even found time in her schedule to make my husband a cake for his birthday. Kicking her out and making her fend for herself would be stupid.”

If Jenna was asked to leave the guest house, she would have to drop out of college and would be living hand to mouth in a terrible apartment while missing out on Daniel’s childhood.

She admits Jenna is a bit of an investment until she graduates and gets a career of her own, but to her, that’s a reasonable sacrifice.

Her husband refused to back down and got even angrier about the time and money he has to put into Daniel when Daniel isn’t his child.

She freaked out on her husband and reminded him that she’s the one making the money, so she can spend it however she chooses. She ended the conversation by threatening to hire a nanny.

“He was stunned as I’m never one to raise my voice and generally try to avoid conflict,” she continued.

“Then he made a big stink about how I don’t appreciate him, and if I cared about the life we’ve built together that I wouldn’t be sacrificing it for some teenage girl I barely know. Now we’re both mad, and for the last couple of days, neither one of us has spoken to each other very much unless we have to.”

“I’ve been dropping off Daniel at my friend Ashley’s house on my way to work, and Jenna has been picking him up after her classes because my husband refuses to watch him. How can I fix the situation and change my husband’s mind? Kicking Jenna out isn’t something I’m willing to do.”
