This 26-year-old woman has an older sister named Anna, who’s 28, and their relationship has always been a bit complex because they are polar opposites.

While Anna is a “type A” person who is very successful and always on top of everything, she’s more creative and laid back. That’s why she decided to embark on a career as an artist, and she recently launched her own small business.

There, she sells her paintings and even completes commissions for interested buyers.

“It’s been slow, but it’s starting to pick up, and I’m really proud of it,” she said.

Her family, including Anna, has a different perspective, though. They always sort of dismiss her art and don’t understand why she opted to take an untraditional career route, unlike her sister.

Then, after Anna recently tied the knot, her sister’s disapproval of her work finally came front and center during an awkward and hurtful conversation.

For some context, her sister got married last weekend, and everything started off great. Anna’s best friend was the maid of honor, but she still helped out a ton when it came to planning the event.

The ceremony was gorgeous, too, and she was genuinely happy for Anna on her wedding day.

“I was doing my best to be there for her because, despite everything, Anna’s my sister, and I love her,” she detailed.

So, when it came time for the reception, she tried to seize a moment alone with her sister to formally congratulate her on her nuptials.

At that point, she told Anna how amazing everything was and shared how happy she felt for her.

Well, even after all of that, her sister had the nerve to smile and respond, “Thanks! I’m surprised you actually made it. I figured you’d be too busy with your little hobby business.”

This left her completely shell-shocked, as she couldn’t believe her sister was calling her art career a “hobby.” Still, she tried to laugh off the remark and made it clear that it was her job – not a pastime.

Despite that, Anna just doubled down and stated, “Well, it’s not a real job, but I’m glad you’re having fun with it.”

She honestly didn’t know what to say after that, so she just walked away. Later, she attempted to enjoy the rest of the evening, yet she couldn’t get what Anna said out of her head.

“It felt like she was belittling everything I’ve been working so hard for,” she admitted.

This pushed her to literally get up and leave right after dinner. She did not say goodbye to Anna or anyone else at the wedding. Rather, she just took her things and headed out.

Ever since she did that, her mom has been furious at her – accusing her of “ruining” the wedding by leaving early.

At the same time, Anna hasn’t been speaking to her, and her dad has tried to remain impartial, although he did imply that she may have overreacted.

“I don’t know, maybe I did. But it really hurt hearing Anna say that, especially on her wedding day, when I was just trying to support her,” she vented.

Nonetheless, with basically her whole family angry at her, she’s unsure if leaving her sister’s wedding early over the “hobby” comment was justified or not.

Why do you think her sister chose that moment to snub her career choices? Did she have a right to leave early after being disrespected like that?
