Since his college days, TikToker Marco (@marcoothemexii) had been banned from the dating apps for making fake accounts to look for his ex.

But then, he got another phone for his business and decided to download a dating app on there. He kept seeing one girl that he was particularly attracted to, so he swiped, and they started texting.

At first, she was being somewhat of a dry texter, but he assumed that she must be fielding tons of guys in her messages. He invited her out for some boba because there was a really good boba spot near the college town where he worked.

She agreed and sent him her address. He got into his truck and headed out. On the way there, he noticed that the roads were bad. When he finally arrived, he struggled to find parking. Then, he went up the stairs to her apartment and opened the door because she told him it was unlocked.

He was confused as to how she was comfortable with him just coming into her apartment, especially since they were strangers. He already felt like something was off, and when he walked in, he saw her sitting on the couch in the living room.

He thought it was weird that she hadn't gotten up to greet him, but now, he knew that this girl was really overweight.

He scrolled through the pictures on her dating profile and realized that all her photos were taken from the neck up. She had also worn heavy makeup and used filters.

He had totally been catfished, but he still wanted to be respectful.

She asked him to help her off the couch, and they walked down the stairs to his truck. Once they were in the truck, he noticed a strong, unpleasant odor coming from her. He was freaking out a little bit on the inside, so he texted his friend, asking him to get him out of this situation.

So, his friend called, saying that there was something wrong with his car, and he needed help. He told his date that a family emergency had come up, and he had to go. She was super nice and understanding about it.

Still, he feels bad about ditching her. He hasn't blocked her and even told her they could hang out the next day. But now, he's wondering if he was rude. Several TikTok users reassured him that he handled the situation well.

"Honestly, by the way you are telling your experience, you seem like a really respectful guy because you could've said anything bad, but you chose to keep it respectful toward her," pointed out one user.

"You actually handled this very well. You were respectful and patient despite the catfishing and extra work she made you go through. You had every right to feel the way you felt," commented another.

"These things happen, and she probably was insecure about her weight. I think the way you're talking about it is really respectful, so don't think you did anything wrong," chimed in a third.
