In January 2024, TikToker Devin (@devvvvvvin) got appendicitis. So, she had an appendectomy (a procedure in which doctors remove your appendix) and assumed that was the end of it.

But then, in January 2025, she started experiencing severe stomach pain and was unable to eat for five days.

She was getting ready to move into her new apartment, but she woke up at 4:30 in the morning in really bad pain. She woke her mom up to take her to the hospital. Somehow, it felt like she had appendicitis again, and she joked about it on the way there.

But it turned out that she really did have appendicitis again. She had a condition called stump appendicitis, and it is extremely rare. Each year, it happens to about three to six people in the United States. Most doctors are not even aware that it exists.

Stump appendicitis occurs after you get your appendix removed the first time. The doctors cut off the majority of the appendix but leave a small stump behind, which is standard procedure. However, inflammation can recur in the remaining portion of the appendix.

When Devin found this out, she burst out laughing because what else could she do at that point? She had to have surgery to remove her appendix yet again.

Apparently, the surgical team that did her first appendectomy left behind a whopping two-thirds of the organ. This time, they actually took out the whole thing.

Now, Devin can officially say goodbye to her appendix at last. And that’s the story of how she got her appendix removed twice.

The comments section of her video revealed that she was not alone in her odd medical journey. So, if your stomach feels like it’s staging an intense rebellion, don’t wait. It could be a medical mystery in the making!

“I got it three times. First time, I got antibiotics, and it went away. Five months later, got it again, had it removed, and then about six months later, I had it again??!” exclaimed one user.

“Never had appendicitis, but I had a 3 mm kidney stone in May. They had to give me morphine twice in the ER for the pain,” commented another.

“Girl do not scare me right now i have been having the WORST health luck this year,” another person added.
