Job hunting is already stressful enough, but imagine being told you practically have the job, only to be coldly rejected days later. Recently, TikToker Brieanne Swift (@brieanneswift) went to a hiring event, where she was the only person there interviewing for a job.

There was a man seated behind every single interview table. She did not see one woman there. Still, she pushed on with confidence and professionalism.

At one point, Brieanne sat down for an interview with a department manager who had been in that position for less than a month. She was interviewing for the role of a supervisor for a brand-new store.

She had 14 years of customer service experience, and eight of those years were in management, so she was definitely overqualified for the job.

The manager was impressed with her answers to his basic questions. Everyone else watching also commented on how well she interviewed.

They were all ready to hire her, so she essentially had the job secured.

She just needed to meet the district manager first. The district manager seemed excited for her to be joining the team until the department manager informed him that he had offered her a full-time position at the company. The managers then walked away for about 10 minutes to have a private discussion.

When the district manager came back, he peppered her with very specific questions that she was able to answer with ease. He never discussed compensation with her.

Finally, he told her that they couldn't make a decision quite yet because it was midday.

So, she shook everyone's hand and gracefully made her exit. Not even 48 hours later, she received a rejection email from the company. For some reason, they acted like she was going to get the job, but then turned around and took it away from her.

Needless to say, she was completely blindsided. After being given every sign that she was a top candidate, the rug was pulled out from under her without a real explanation. Upon reflection, it seemed that they just didn't want to pay for someone with her experience.
