If one person’s trash is another person’s treasure, then the curbside piles in rich neighborhoods are like gold mines. TikToker @therichgoodwill went garbage picking in an upscale community and made some great finds.
These weren’t your average broken lamps or dusty old couches with rips in the cushions. We’re talking about barely used items that most people would gladly pay hundreds of dollars for, all tossed out like leftovers gone bad.
In TikToker @therichgoodwill’s video, she filmed herself walking down the street in a rich neighborhood, and the finds just kept getting better.
First, she came across three nice planters that were still intact. Next, she found an entire outdoor patio set in good condition. A rolled-up rug casually sat on top of the patio table, which she considered taking.
Then, she encountered a pile in someone’s yard containing a crib, a bunch of hangers, and two lamps. She snagged the discarded lamps for herself.
The treasures didn’t stop there. Other items she saw included blue chairs, more rugs, a hose reel, a soccer goal, and a scooter.
She also discovered a piece of artwork leaning against a tree just as it was about to storm outside, as well as a couple of sleek, black barstools she saved from the garbage collector.
Many TikTok users couldn’t help but share their own tales of curbside finds. The moral of the story is never to underestimate trash day in wealthy neighborhoods because you just don’t know when you’ll stumble across your next favorite piece of furniture.
“My girlfriend went through Highland Park and found the perfect piece of art for her kitchen. As in absolutely all the colors and everything she had been trying to buy!” exclaimed one user.

“My mom, in the early ’80s, furnished her first Lower East Side apartment by driving around the Upper East and West Side with her brother, picking up thrown-out furniture and art. Iconic,” commented another.
“As a trash person who services rich neighborhoods, I’ve found iPads, grills, camping and hiking gear, so many things not even in bad shape,” stated a third.
