You know it’s about to get creepy when someone tells a story that takes place in Appalachia. TikToker Sydney (@bryansm91) is sharing a story from one of her followers named Katie, and it’s truly terrifying.
Katie grew up in the Midwest, but when she was in 7th grade, her family moved into an old farmhouse in western North Carolina. Her family consisted of her mom, her dad, and her sister.
There were large fields and wooded areas toward the back of their property. Her bedroom was on the second floor, and her window faced the woods.
A few feet into the woods, there was an old shed, which always creeped her out every time she looked at it. Nearly every evening, her dad would go into the shed.
Sometimes, he stayed for a few minutes, but other times, he would be there for hours. When she saw the light on in the shed, she knew her dad was doing whatever he did. She had no idea what that could possibly be.
One morning, she noticed that a big padlock had been added to the shed door. She asked her dad about it, and he told her that some tools were stolen out of the shed, so the padlock was meant to stop people from breaking in. Then, he instructed Katie and her sister to stay away from the shed.
One evening, her dad went to the shed as usual. But in the middle of the night, she woke up to the sound of her mom screaming for her dad. Apparently, he never came back from the shed, so her mom went to check on him.
“Then, in just a matter of minutes, her mom comes running back through the door and calls an ambulance because she had found her husband slumped over in the shed,” said Sydney.
Katie’s dad was alive, but he was acting strangely. When the ambulance arrived, Katie’s mom told her and her sister to wait at the house and take the day off school, while she accompanied their dad to the hospital.

After the ambulance left, the girls looked in the shed. There were no lanterns or electricity, but hanging on the walls were some bird feathers and rabbit feet.
A small work desk contained a few carving knives and a notebook with their father’s handwriting. Some of the pages were filled with unfamiliar scribbles that they couldn’t make sense of.
Strange symbols were carved into the floorboards. Some of them looked fresh, but others seemed ancient. Katie and her sister were super freaked out and quickly went back to the house.
“Her dad was eventually discharged from the hospital and was diagnosed with having a stroke,” Sydney explained. “So, when he came home, he had to walk with a cane but ultimately was okay.”
Katie and her sister told their mom about what they had discovered in the shed. Their mom confronted their dad about it, but he shut down and refused to talk about it.
However, he kept insisting that he be allowed to continue going down to the shed.
That was the main source of her parents’ arguments. They started to fight more late at night. Many months later, Katie’s dad got pneumonia.
His health was already declining from the stroke, and he ended up passing away. After her dad died, Katie and her family moved to a smaller house closer to the city.
Katie and her sister couldn’t stop thinking about that shed, so they did some research on the old farmhouse. It turned out that the farmhouse had multiple owners over the course of 20 years. Almost every year, it was put up for sale and purchased by someone else.
Katie tried to contact some of the previous owners to get more information on why they sold the home, but no one would talk to her except for one woman.
She said that her husband also suffered a stroke in the shed. She has not returned to the property and never plans to, but she believes there is something evil lurking in the shed.
