Growing up, TikToker Rileigh (@ranting_rileigh) didn’t just endure the usual challenges of a blended family. During her entire childhood, up until she was 18 years old, she was subjected to a deeply disturbing and unsanitary form of abuse at the hands of her stepmother.
According to Rileigh, her stepmom had a disgusting habit of wiping her backside with her bare fingers. Instead of using toilet paper and washing her hands like a normal adult, she would shove her dirty fingers up Rileigh’s nose.
She did this to her own kids as well and thought it was the most hilarious thing ever. All the kids would try to cover their noses because she did this so often.
If one of the kids were covering their nose, Rileigh’s stepmom would make the other kids hold their arms down so she could stick her fingers up their nose.
It was not just an at-home activity; she pulled the stunt in public, humiliating the children in stores.
She also wiped her dirty fingers on candles and told the children to smell the candles. It didn’t take them long to catch on to that trick.
In addition, she smeared her boogers on Rileigh and the other kids.
One time, Rileigh tried to fight her off and started screaming, desperate to protect herself. As punishment for resisting, she received a severe beating that left her terrified and silenced once again. For her, the memories aren’t just gross—they are traumatic.
The thought of her stepmother still makes Rileigh shiver with disgust. In the comments section, some TikTok users shared similar traumatizing stories involving a stepparent.

“Girl, same except it was my stepdad and then he would continue on to ask us what they smelled like,” commented one user.
“Just when I think I’m not adulting correctly, I hear this nonsense and realize I’m doing quite okay,” chimed in another.
“My stepmonster was also so horrid. The torture and torment they inflicted upon us should put them in the ground. I would be forcibly put upstairs to stay for days with no food and water, and having to go on the ground. We deserved better,” wrote a third.
