This 23-year-old woman’s relationship with her boyfriend, Andre, got off to a rocky start from the beginning, because she only started hooking up with him while he was on a break from dating her own friend, Bri.
But as if that wasn’t messy enough, she recently found out Andre had also been hiding the fact that he had a 2-year-old son, and during his mom’s retirement dinner, she exposed his secret to his whole family.
To give you some background, Andre, who’s 25, had been on-and-off dating her 23-year-old friend, Bri, long before they ever got together. Then, it was during one of their breakups that she hooked up with Andre for the first time, and as you can probably imagine, her friend wasn’t thrilled.
“Bri and I fought about it, worked through it, and moved on, but the history is still awkward sometimes,” she noted.
Regardless, she and Andre began officially dating around one year ago, and things seemed to be going fine. That was until they were hanging out and drinking at someone’s apartment about three months ago, and a friend of Andre’s revealed he had a child.
Apparently, Andre had been “messing around” when he accidentally spilled a drink. This caused one of his friends to become frustrated and say, “Bro, you’re a parent. Chill out.”
The room immediately went silent, and her boyfriend tried to laugh off the remark. Obviously, though, she was confused about what his friend meant and confronted Andre later. At that point, he confessed to having a 2-year-old son.
“The kid is with a woman named Kiana from one of his breakup periods with Bri. He said he didn’t tell me earlier because he was scared I’d leave, and he didn’t tell his mom because she’s strict and dramatic,” she explained.
But following their conversation, Andre promised he’d come clean to his whole family soon. Spoiler alert: that didn’t happen, and during a more recent get-together with his relatives, she finally hit her breaking point.

The gathering was a retirement party for Andre’s mother, held at a restaurant and attended by 15 to 20 people. Many of the guests were family members, but a few were coworkers whom Andre’s mom had known for years.
Everything kicked off smoothly, too, yet eventually, some of the older relatives began making comments about babies to Andre. This started with his aunt, who said she couldn’t wait for another baby to enter their family. He just laughed off the statement and replied that he wasn’t going to have kids anytime soon.
“That irritated me because he was lying so casually while I’ve been sitting on this secret for months,” she noted.
Next, Andre actually joked about not being ready for children, and she got even angrier. She pulled him aside and tried to tell him she was sick of being complicit in his lies. Nonetheless, her boyfriend just accused her of “doing too much” and ruining his mom’s party.
She was livid that Andre made it seem as if she were the problem. And after they sat down to eat, his mother made a passing comment about becoming a grandmother one day, and Andre continued joking as if he wasn’t already a parent. That was her last straw, and she finally lost it.
Suddenly, she just told the whole table, “He already has a child.” Her announcement froze everyone, and things immediately got awkward.
Andre’s mom quickly asked her what she meant; meanwhile, her own boyfriend started whispering her name, trying to get her to stop talking. She didn’t listen, though, and exposed the truth.
“He has a 2-year-old with a woman named Kiana. I found out months ago because his friend slipped up. He said he was going to tell you and never did,” she told Andre’s family.
Andre’s mother was visibly stunned, and the fact that some coworkers were present didn’t help the situation. She couldn’t tell whether his mom was embarrassed by her own son or angry that she’d revealed his secret publicly.
Either way, her boyfriend didn’t stick around to deny anything or defend himself. Rather, he just got up, walked out, and left while the rest of the guests remained quiet.
Andre’s mom eventually asked how long she’d known about his son, and she admitted it had been months. And now, her boyfriend is furious at her for “betraying” and “humiliating” him.
He hasn’t stopped blowing up her phone, claiming that if she hated keeping the secret so much, she should’ve just dumped him privately instead of exposing him to his family. She, on the other hand, doesn’t think she did anything wrong.
“I’m not apologizing. I’m tired of him lying and expecting me to lie with him. He had months to handle it himself. So yeah, I don’t feel bad,” she vented.
Even so, in the wake of the botched retirement dinner, she can’t help but wonder whether outing her boyfriend for having a child really was a jerky move.
