One time, TikToker @rebelheartjournal gave an unattractive guy a chance, and she instantly regretted it on their first date. So, this guy had been texting her every morning, which somewhat annoyed her because she does not like texting someone she doesn't know.
She prefers to just meet up right away and not waste any time. That's actually how she met and got together with her husband.
Anyway, this guy drove an hour and a half out of his way, picked her up, and took her to dinner. When the bill came, he immediately asked her if she wanted to split it.
She was absolutely flabbergasted and lost respect for him just like that.
"I've never heard those words before on a first date, and I literally just cannot believe it was happening to me," she said. "It's like one of those things you hear about, read about, see it in movies, but I've never experienced it firsthand."
Right away, her body language became cold toward him. Of course, she paid for her half of the bill because she was a dignified woman with self-respect, but she vowed never to speak to him again.
They got back in his truck, and as he drove her home, he tried to make plans for the rest of the night. He seemed to think she was going to invite him to her place.
However, she faced the window and ignored him. Soon enough, he picked up on the fact that she was unhappy and did not have a good time on their date.
When they arrived at her apartment, she quickly hopped out of the truck. Before she even shut the door to her apartment, she had already blocked his number. She never saw or spoke to him again.

"Any guy who's worth their salt would never charge you half for a first date, especially when they plan the date, and they made a reservation, especially when they drove an hour and a half to come pick you up, especially when they were texting you for like three weeks," she said.
"The least you could do is pay for my half of dinner, like I gave you two hours of my company. That's how I see it, and that's the only way to see it in my opinion."
Some TikTok users could relate and shared their thoughts about dating in the comments section.
"I personally like starting with the texting banter, but it has to flow naturally. If I have to think about what to reply, then it's a no," commented one user.
"I don't text before the first date...not ever...I. might have Ubered home," chimed in another.
"I'm almost 57 and sadly dating men in their early 60s. They constantly want to talk on the phone about nothing. Then, they get mad when I say I don't know you, and I'm busy; text me with the plan, and we will talk in person," added a third.
@rebelheartjournal I immediately lose respect. It must be a biological adaptation for women's survival. You can't pay for dinner then how will you support a family?? #storytime #dating #datingstorytime #firstdate #firstdatefail
