If you’re still in the dating game, you have most likely accumulated a string of bad first dates. It comes with the territory. TikToker Sophia Raine (@lilraineraine) is sharing her worst first date story.
She matched with this guy on a dating app, and he informed her right away that he had a child. Then, he invited her to spend the day at the beach with him and his son.
She told him she couldn’t but was free later that night. They made plans to go to a bar. So, she drove about 45 minutes to his place. He came out to greet her.
Suddenly, he remembered that he really needed to go to the store to get dog food. The grocery store was only a two-minute drive away, so it was no big deal.
They chatted as they walked into the store. When they passed the alcohol aisle, he asked her if she wanted to grab something. She wondered why they needed to buy alcohol if they were going to the bar soon.
But she grabbed a drink anyway, and he bought his dog food. They drove back to his place, and he invited her in. One of his friends was there, so he introduced her, but he called her by the wrong name.
Instead of Sophia, she was now Sonia. She just went along with it because she no longer cared. Finally, the friend left. They sat and talked at the dining table. She asked if they were still going out, but he said it was getting late.
“At this point, I’m like, I don’t really want to be here for that long, so I don’t think I want to go out with him,” said Sophia. “Also, I think he just tricked me into staying at his house, which is super weird.”
After chatting for an hour, she discovered that it was actually his sister’s house. Apparently, he had been staying with his sister because the property he just purchased was undergoing renovations.

Soon enough, he asked her if she wanted to go upstairs to his room. She agreed because she was okay if this whole thing ended in a hookup.
It was clear that his room was his sister’s kid’s room. There was a mattress on the floor that he had been sleeping on. They sat down on the mattress, and he proceeded to pull out his phone and show her a bunch of photos for 20 minutes.
Eventually, they cuddled for a bit. But she found the whole situation to be odd and uncomfortable, so she left shortly after. On the 40-minute drive home, she had some time alone with her thoughts and vowed never to speak to him again.
“I don’t even think you could call that a date,” Sophia said.
“He didn’t buy anything. He didn’t even take me anywhere. It’s so embarrassing. Mind you, this man was 30. So, old enough to know how to take a woman on a date.”
However, he texted her, and she couldn’t resist. They ended up dating for four or five months after that.
