If you think your job gets weird, wait until you hear what realtors will do to close a deal. TikToker @hiddeninfyp recently sent the internet into a spiral after sharing jaw-dropping stories from a private real estate group on Facebook made up of thousands of other realtors.
They had a discussion about the craziest thing they’ve ever had to do to get a house to sell. The answers were anything but simple. Now, @hiddeninfyp is reading the comments out loud, revealing that some realtors have gone far beyond staging homes and hosting open houses.
One realtor casually admitted to bailing their client out of jail so he could attend the closing. Another said they adopted a client’s dog and dug up the body of the family cat for a completely different client.
Other stories involved sacrificing their weekend and questionable decision-making.
“Not the craziest, but the most recent. I had to go above and beyond for this client. We couldn’t find anyone to dig out the septic tank lids for inspection yesterday. Guess what I spent Sunday doing? Biggest effing septic I’ve ever seen, too. 12×4. But it’s a $1.9 million deal. I would have dug it out with a spoon if I’d had to,” read @hiddeninfyp.
“Invited the buyer to move in with us until they found a place. They lived with us for 3 months. This was probably a bad idea because I met them as a lead that came in from Housetea.com. I didn’t know them, I had no mutual friends, but she did eventually buy and close on a $1.1 million condo,” he continued.
Someone else bought dinner for the tenants of the house that was being sold because they would not allow the final walk-through to happen. Of course, they ended up ordering a bunch of food. Then, there were the bribes and quickie weddings.
“Paid out of my own pocket to send a notary to the county jail for the not-quite-ex-wife to sign off on the closing documents, and I had to bribe her with commissary money,” said @hiddeninfyp.
That was followed by, “Officiated a last-minute marriage for my buyers at the closing table because the lender messed up the docs and couldn’t be reached to change them. I got ordained online.”

Another realtor showed homes to a dad and daughter duo. Something seemed off, so they called the police twice. The police checked out the situation but did nothing, saying that she was the man’s daughter.
A few months later, the police called back, asking for a statement from the realtor. It turned out that the daughter had shot and killed the dad. He had been abusing her since she was 13 years old.
Finally, a realtor had to buy their clients’ new car that they had impulsively purchased before closing.
The lesson to be learned here is not to open up a new credit card, buy any furniture, or make other big purchases while you’re in the process of buying a house.
