This past April, TikToker Chelsea (@bipolar_chelsea) and her ex broke up, but for the past couple of weeks, he has been crying and begging on his knees to get back together with her.
She has rejected him each time, but she’s now starting to consider giving him an opportunity to win her over. If he truly wanted another chance, he was going to have to prove it in a very specific way.
So, she told him that if he wrote three research papers that were cited in APA format, she would think about getting back together with him.
She would also provide him with a rubric, and he needed to earn a grade of at least a 90%.
“Now the requirements of three papers—one of them is a 30-pager, two of them are 10 pages, and they’re on the subjects that we always would fight over,” Chelsea explained.
“One of them would be a 10-pager on how to best support a partner with bipolar disorder. So, he’s got to do a research paper on that. He’s got to APA cite all his sources. They’ve got to be legit sources.”
She wasn’t kidding around. She won’t be accepting empty promises or emotional pleas. Altogether, her ex essentially has to write 50 pages of thoughtful, well-researched work and score a 90% or above for her to consider giving him another shot with her.
The research papers will take some time to write, and she’s watching and waiting to see if he will actually do it.
The assignment isn’t about humiliation or punishment. It’s about taking accountability, putting in effort, and seeing whether or not he’s actually willing to learn.

She will not be reminding him of the guidelines or helping him along the way. And, of course, he’s not allowed to use AI to write the whole thing.
Several TikTok users came to the comments section to praise Chelsea for standing her ground and to share stories about grand gestures from their own exes, many of which rang hollow in hindsight.
“My ex sent me a 33-page handwritten certified mail letter of how he messed up and how much he loves me and would do anything to have me back…I literally had to sign for the package,” commented one user.
“My ex wrote me a letter saying he’d do everything I had begged him for three years for…I was like, that’s great. He’s like, so can we get back together? I said of course not,” wrote another.
“I told him he has to delete all social media (not deactivate—delete), and I would consider him. I know he ain’t doing it,” added a third.
One thing is clear: Chelsea won’t be settling for verbal promises anymore. She’s demanding proof via the written word.
