Apparently, when you book an Airbnb, you run the risk of having a surprise roommate. TikToker Hannah Rose (@hnnuhrose) is a dog sitter, so she lives in people’s houses to watch their dogs.
Sometimes, she has a few days in between jobs where she doesn’t have a place to stay, so she will book an Airbnb. But an unexpected roommate made her stop staying in Airbnbs alone.
So, she booked this Airbnb for a couple of days. It was supposed to be a smaller, separate house behind a house, but when she got there, she saw that the houses were actually attached to each other.
It was 10 p.m. when she arrived, and she had a pounding headache at the time, so she was just ready to lie down in the dark.
She woke up in the middle of the night, around 2 or 3 a.m. She felt a little better and decided to get up to use the bathroom. Her Airbnb was basically one giant room with a bed in the center.
There was a TV and a kitchen close by. The setup was not what was advertised. Then, she realized there was another room and wondered why they didn’t put the bed in there.
She tried the door, but it was locked. After using the bathroom, she went back to bed and scrolled on her phone. Suddenly, she heard what sounded like someone sitting up on a mattress with springs.
As she was lying there, she heard a door open, and a man walked out of the locked room. She pretended to be asleep and waited for him to go back into the room.
Then, she packed up all her stuff and ran out of the house. She called Airbnb to explain the situation and went back and forth with them. Finally, they agreed to give her a refund.

The host she booked the Airbnb with ended up messaging her and left her a scathing email. Now, Hannah refuses to stay in an Airbnb alone again. She books hotels instead.
“I’m not a person who has paranormal sleep, like when you can see people in the middle of the room that aren’t there,” said Hannah.
“It was a full-blown person. There was a person in my Airbnb.”
