There are so many ways to punish a teenager for not going to class, but do you think forcing them to cut their hair is an effective one?
This woman has a 17-year-old son who has spent the majority of his life with long hair. His hair was long, thick, and black; it was around chest-length.
Her son did a great job maintaining it, so his hair never looked messy. Now, her husband, who is her son’s stepdad, has always hated his hair.
Her husband thought his hair looked too feminine, and while he was never outright rude about it in front of her son, he had told her plenty of times he wanted her son to chop it all off.
“The two of them got into a huge fight because my son has been skipping his classes, and my husband decided that to punish him, he was going to cut his hair,” she explained.
“I don’t know how it went down, but when I came home, my son was crying and cutting his own hair in the mirror. I asked him what was wrong and what he was doing, and he told me my husband had randomly cut his hair short in spots, and now he had to cut it really short to even it out and make it look okay.”
“I went and spoke to my husband to find out the specifics of what happened from his side as well, and it ended up in yelling because while I don’t agree with my son skipping classes, I felt that cutting his hair over it was cruel and horrible when this could’ve been resolved another way.”
In order to make her son feel better, she used her husband’s credit card and personal money to buy him a designer jacket he’s liked for quite some time.
Her husband found out, of course, and was livid with her. She just told her husband he never should have cut her son’s hair as punishment, and the jacket is meant to be an apology for how he handled the situation.

Her son will have to spend the next few years growing his hair out, whereas her husband will quickly be able to make more money to replace the cost of the jacket.
She’s left wondering if she’s a jerk for how she retaliated against her husband for cutting her son’s hair.
Well, that expensive present won’t make up for the fact that she’s not taking a bigger stance against her husband. She’s not truly siding with her son here; she’s trying to buy him off.
Her husband did a cruel thing to her son, and a pricey jacket doesn’t fix that or the lack of respect her husband has for her kid.
