Choosing to forgive someone doesn’t automatically protect you from being reminded of what it was that you forgave them for. You can do everything right, such as putting in the work to heal, opening your heart back up, and choosing love every single day…but the world doesn’t owe you a clean slate.
The past can always walk right through the door, dragging up all that old heartbreak.
Last night, this woman and her husband went to a bar, and it was the first time they’ve gone out in quite a long time. Her husband cheated on her back in November and again in December, but throughout the past three to six months, they have been having a wonderful time together.
She and her husband have been working on reconciliation, which has been going great for them, and she’s not interested in leaving her husband over his infidelity. In fact, her husband has grown into being attentive and in tune with her emotions as they’ve worked on fixing their marriage.
So anyway, yesterday they were having an amazing time at the bar, when all of a sudden, her husband stiffened up and mentioned that he could clearly see his affair partner sitting there.
“Panicked, I looked around and saw her on the other side of the room… and this [woman] blew me a kiss. She literally blew a kiss and laughed to herself,” she explained.
“My partner and I left as soon as we could close out our bill and went home to watch movies together instead. He was attentive, kind, and held me after the fact and even offered his phone to me if I needed to check.”
“I didn’t, I don’t feel the need to, but I am just so [angry about] how seeing her has triggered an ebb-and-flow of awful emotions again.”
While she’s certainly still feeling shaken up over the interaction, there is a piece of her that pities her husband’s affair partner for treating her like that.

This woman is cruel, selfish, and has tried to harass her on social media in the past as well. She couldn’t imagine treating anyone the way this woman has treated her.
In the end, she and her husband managed to laugh about what his affair partner did back there in the bar only hours ago, and they have come so far that they won’t let this woman get between them ever again.
Well, she ultimately won, as she’s still with her husband, and this woman didn’t end up with him. I’m sure her husband’s affair partner is jealous of her on some level for that!
I would have blown a kiss right back in the moment.
