DaMara (@bettyandthejets13) is a realtor in southeastern Wisconsin, and in 2021, she had a listing that was located in the middle of the woods.
It had been on the market for a while; every so often, she would receive a call about the property. She had also sold a neighboring property in the area.
One day, a guy called and said that he was the son of the person who bought the house she had previously sold in that neighborhood.
He claimed that he had a rich friend who was looking to buy a property. His friend wasn’t available to see the place, but he was willing to take pictures and videos for him.
DaMara offered some available times for a showing the next day, but he was adamant that she meet him that night. The property was almost 40 minutes away from where she lived.
She told him that she didn’t have time and needed to take care of her dogs. He suggested that she bring the dogs, and they could go to a park.
After hanging up with him, DaMara called her husband and told him about the situation. She asked him to accompany her to the showing because something seemed off about this guy.
This guy proceeded to call her four times and kept texting her to ask where she was and when she would get there. So, she and her husband drove down to the house and waited for the guy to arrive. Suddenly, they saw a man wandering toward them with a beer in his hand, clearly drunk.
It was her client, so she got out to greet him. She had a bad feeling about this guy and made sure to note that she wasn’t alone. As they went through the house, she asked him questions about his friend’s preferences for the home, but he wouldn’t answer any questions. He also didn’t take any pictures.

He just asked if she was married and commented on her appearance. She was totally creeped out and decided not to go down into the basement. He had no interest in seeing the basement. He wanted to see the yard, so they went outside to check it out.
At that point, her husband had come inside just as they were going out the back. She showed the client the deck and a firewood tent.
He was trying to get her to go inside the tent. Then, they walked around the property to the shed. She unlocked the shed and opened the doors.
The guy pushed her into the shed, stepped inside, and shut the doors. DaMara’s husband came up and said something.
“I think because he was under the influence, he had no idea that there was another person there, even though I had made it clear there was,” said DaMara.
“And he got really spooked by that and weirdly defensive.”
She got out of the shed, ran through the house, turned off the lights, and locked up. When they got in the car, the guy tried to stop them and ask for more contact information. He suggested that they meet up at the park for pizza.
“I got out of there as fast as I could, blocked that guy’s number, took the sign down with my face on it, and never used it again,” said DaMara.
“So, all I can think is he drove by that house and saw my face and thought this was an opportunity. I don’t know, but I am glad I didn’t end up in a Dateline episode.”
