There are certain things men can ask for that are simply wife duties. Meaning, if you’re not a husband in good standing, you have no business asking for specific favors.
Now, this 52-year-old woman’s 56-year-old husband clearly didn’t get the heads up on wife duties, as he’s in the middle of divorcing her, yet made a serious request.
But let’s rewind real quick on why they’re getting a divorce: her husband spends all of his free time on dating apps, and he swears it’s an addiction, so he can’t help it.
“I also want to note that I am the breadwinner and pay all the household bills, while he only pays his specific bills – car, phone, etc. We also still live together until he saves up enough to move out,” she explained.
Initially, she didn’t mind being the wealthier one, as her husband has a full-time job and makes decent money. But she’s spent an enormous amount of her own cash on ensuring her husband has a cushy life.
And do you know how he repaid her? He blew his money and hers, too, on interactions with women online. She only found out about it after her bank started mailing her overdraft notices.
Her husband is also financially and emotionally abusive, which has wrecked her self-esteem. It’s been quite a test for her to have been the one to initiate the divorce, as it wasn’t easy for her to do.
Luckily, she bought the house they live in before they began dating, so her husband isn’t entitled to it in the divorce. They don’t have any kids together, so the split should be fairly straightforward. You know, once he can afford to move out and secure his own place.
She’s hoping better days are in her future once she can get her husband out of the house, but in the meantime, he’s not being a respectful roommate.

“This morning, he told me he wanted to schedule a vasectomy appointment and wanted to know if I would drive him there. I told him no and that I thought it was extremely insensitive of him to even ask that. He said it’s a medical procedure and he will be in a lot of pain,” she said.
“He then got upset that I wouldn’t take him. I said, it’s a procedure for you to not have to worry about pregnancy scares, so you can [sleep with] younger women. He was always going after the younger women on the dating apps and has it in his head that most younger women want an older man.”
Even though she told her husband to basically take a hike, she’s left wondering if she’s somehow a jerk for telling him she won’t drive him to his vasectomy.
Her husband’s request falls under wife duties, but since they’re getting a divorce due to his infidelity, no, she should not cave and drive him to his appointment.
He can find someone else to do it or call an Uber. I’m astounded that he is acting so entitled! Also, she needs to make him go stay in a hotel or with a family member while he’s recovering so he doesn’t try to rope her into playing nurse.
