What would you do if your significant other invited their friend, whom you don’t like, to secretly join in on the birthday dinner that was meant to be just the two of you?
Would you sit there and deal with someone you dislike and make the best of it, or would you get up and leave the restaurant?
This 19-year-old girl celebrated her birthday over the weekend, and her 21-year-old boyfriend said he wanted to take her out to an upscale restaurant she’s been looking forward to trying as his treat.
When she and her boyfriend arrived at the restaurant, the hostess escorted them to their table, and her boyfriend’s female best friend, Chloe, was already seated.
She’s been dating her boyfriend for three years now, and Chloe has only recently become an important part of his life. This girl wasn’t someone he’s been close to all along.
So when she saw Chloe sitting there for her birthday dinner, she thought it had to be some kind of a prank, especially since she despises her.
“Chloe and I do not get along. She constantly makes passive-aggressive comments about me and acts like my boyfriend is her property,” she explained.
“I pulled him aside and asked why she was here. He rolled his eyes and said, ‘She was having a rough week and needed cheering up. Don’t be selfish, it’s just dinner.'”
“I sat down and barely spoke while they basically ignored me, flirted, and ordered premium appetizers and several expensive cocktails.”

Their waiter came around to take their orders for the main courses, and she pulled out her credit card while asking him to charge her for the Diet Coke she had.
She wasn’t about to stick around and have dinner with Chloe, of all people. Her boyfriend appeared puzzled when she asked for the check, like he couldn’t understand why she was leaving.
“I signed my receipt, stood up, and said, ‘Hope Chloe feels better. Happy birthday to me.’ Then I walked out and took an Uber home,” she continued.
“He blew up my phone, saying I completely humiliated him and that he couldn’t afford the $150 tab they racked up. Now his whole friend group is texting me, calling me an insecure, dramatic brat.”
Oh, and her boyfriend has offered to take her out to dinner plenty of times as his treat, only to force her to pick up the tab, so she’s used to that kind of behavior from him.
However, her birthday did mark the first time that her boyfriend invited her out to dinner while secretly springing Chloe on her, so that’s a new one for her.
She’s left wondering if she was wrong to walk out of her own birthday dinner and stick her boyfriend with the bill, especially considering how upset he still is with her.
I am shocked that she puts up with a man like this. Her boyfriend’s not worth this kind of drama and mess, so I think she should dump him. Then he can be free to date Chloe, since he’s clearly so interested in her.
