According to TikToker Marissa (@marissaholguin5), her recent date took an unexpected turn when someone secretly funded the entire night. She went on a date with a guy, and a stranger ended up paying for their whole bill.
She is still racking her brain about who could have done such a nice gesture. She had told a few of her friends about the dinner date, but none of them could have possibly covered the check like that.
During the date, she ordered a spritz, and he ordered a tequila soda. However, the server brought them a dirty martini, which was her favorite drink, and an old-fashioned. He told them that the drinks were complimentary.
The mystery deepened when the server returned to take their food orders. He informed them that their whole bill had been taken care of.
Apparently, someone had called the restaurant earlier and said they were paying for the couple’s dinner. The anonymous person also bought them an expensive bottle of wine.
At that point, both Marissa and her date were completely baffled. He was clearly very thrown off and kept scanning the restaurant, trying to see if anyone was watching them or waving from another table. Marissa was also looking around in confusion.
“I still have no idea who did this, but it definitely was on my end because the dirty martini is my favorite drink, and that was what they had sent over, and then the bottle of wine was interesting,” said Marissa.
They ordered an appetizer, dinner, and dessert since the meal was already covered. At one point, she happened to look over to her right and saw the guy she had just stopped dating.
He was sitting at the bar by himself, and they made eye contact. It was possible that he paid for the bill, but she isn’t sure.

She couldn’t give the date her full attention because of how strange the whole situation was. Her thoughts were distracting her, and it was a little unsettling to wonder if someone was watching them.
Paying for her entire date and sending over her favorite drink was such a power move. Some TikTok users shared their theories about what might have happened in the comments section.
“The guy you were on the date with called the restaurant ahead of time and gave them his credit card to cover the date. This is a tactic that’s talked about in several videos going around TikTok and IG,” commented one user.
“Maybe the other guy wanted the current guy to feel uncomfortable,” added another.
“The other guy did that to hijack the date. He was marking his territory with the new guy,” suggested a third.
To this day, the mystery remains unsolved.
