This man has been married to his wife for nearly 36 years, so they’ve had a good run. Unfortunately, his wife has been addicted to painkillers throughout close to the entirety of their marriage.
It started after they got into a car crash in May of 1992 that nearly cost them both their lives. His wife got burned on over 40% of her body, including half of her face, and that is what ultimately led to her addiction.
A bit under two years ago, his wife did get clean and kicked the pills to the curb, but she did so without seeking professional help and just went off the pills cold turkey style.
Immediately following his wife stopping her addiction, she became obsessed with the spirit world and dowsing rods, which are metal tools said to help you communicate with the other side.
You’re supposed to hold them in your hands while asking clear yes or no questions, and if the rods cross inward, it’s supposed to indicate a yes, while if the rods move outward and don’t touch, it means no.
“She got more into it and now does not need the dowsing rods as she talks directly to her guides and her dead parents. She follows advice from them,” he explained.
“About two weeks ago, she was committed to a mental hospital, held for 14 days on a 5250 hold, and released with meds. I do not believe she is taking her meds; she feels there is nothing wrong with her.”
“Last Saturday we tried to rekindle our suffering marriage by going on a date, like our first date to start over, her guide took over, [and] took control of the car (she insisted on driving and said her guide [would] tell her where to go).”
He bought fancy flowers, cheese, wine, and snacks, and they were supposed to take a sunset trip to the beach on their date night.

But then his wife pulled the car over and proceeded to berate him for nearly two whole hours, and she said her spirit guide was speaking to him through her voice while claiming to be in a trance.
His wife’s spirit guide mentioned his wife would not remember their conversation once it was over, and he was terrified. His wife was certainly not acting like herself, let alone the girl he fell in love with. Oh, and I’m sure you could have guessed they completely missed the sunset and their date night thanks to her spirit guides.
I guess it then came out that his wife was trying to get him to join in on the spirit world and awaken something within him in order to do that.
“I think that since she sees that it failed, I told her, ‘Your guide is not real, I will not fight and argue with a spirit guide, I want my wife back!’ She is now moving forward with legal separation and divorce plans,” he continued.
“I love her to death and thought we would die together. Should I let her go? As I said, the woman I fell in love with is now gone!”
Look, I am all for communicating with the spirit world, but this looks more like a mental health crisis to me than anything else, given his wife’s history, and I think he needs to get her back to the hospital ASAP.
Let’s also not ignore that long-term painkiller use can be linked to psychosis. Also, I’m not really sure why he wants to stay in their marriage, because he has really been put through the wringer.
Allowing his wife and her spirit guides to get the divorce they want sounds like the best option, and in the meantime, he should stay out of the car while she’s driving.
What advice do you have for him?
