Jesslyn (@jesslynthebestlyn on TikTok) went on one heck of a first date not too long ago after she had just moved to Nashville. She was a country girl in the big city, and she downloaded all the dating apps, trying to meet a man, as one does when they’re new in town.
She quickly set up three different dates with three guys, wasting no time, and her first date was with a man named Tyler. He sent her a great playlist before their date, and Jess approved. She thought it was a positive sign.
They agreed to meet at a taco shop for lunch, and Jesslyn was dressed to the nines. Tyler texted her that he was already there, and Jesslyn said he could have won a Jeffrey Dahmer look-alike contest.
He had greasy hair and big old glasses, but he had already spotted her, so it wasn’t possible for her to back out of the date over his looks.
“I go in, I’m like, you know what, Jesslyn? You can talk to a brick wall, make the best of it, get a free lunch, go home, life’s fine,” Jesslyn explained in her video.
Tyler gave Jesslyn a hug, and they started chit-chatting. Jesslyn was not so pleasantly surprised by Tyler’s personality, which she characterized as wet cardboard.
The taco shop was set up in a way where you walked down the counter and ordered what you wanted, so by the time Jesslyn got to the end where you had to pay, she wasn’t sure if Tyler was going to offer.
She ended up paying for her own food, not wanting Tyler to think she owed him anything. The restaurant was so packed they could hardly find a spot to sit down, but they managed to squeeze into a table.
She could hardly hear Tyler speaking to her because it was so loud in the restaurant, and he was so quiet. Tyler was “tolerable” and went on to tell Jesslyn about how he did volunteer videographer work for a Christian artist.

In the middle of the date, Tyler checked his phone, apologized, and pulled out his laptop from the satchel bag he had with him.
“Pulls out his laptop, and proceeds to re-edit, red-cut some video from this artist, that, mind you, he works as a volunteer for. He’s not even getting paid to do this,” Jesslyn said.
“He is pulling his laptop out and actively working on our first date. Oh, isn’t that awesome? That truly was awesome.”
Jesslyn thought Ashton Kutcher was about to jump out and tell her she was being punk’d. But no, that was sadly not reality. Next, a little girl approached Jesslyn and called her a princess, which made the date better.
“And I got this frog sitting next to me who won’t even look at me because he’s doing volunteer work while I’m over here doing charity work. Are you kidding? Needless to say, I wrapped the date up pretty quickly after that,” Jesslyn continued.
As soon as she walked out of the restaurant, Jesslyn deleted Tyler’s number, but kept his fire playlist.
