We all know that a wedding is supposed to be all about the newlyweds, but some brides really take it way too far in making themselves the center of attention.
This man attended a wedding a few weeks ago as his girlfriend’s plus-one. He didn’t know anyone else at the wedding except for his girlfriend.
The ceremony itself was lovely, and then the cocktail hour followed, which went off without a hitch. But during the reception, when everyone was enjoying dinner, things got weird. All the guests were mingling and catching up with one another, which is typical for a wedding.
“Then the bride starts making the rounds, and at first I genuinely thought she was just being a really attentive host until she stopped at the table next to ours where two guys were talking about football and said, smiling the whole time with a really eerie smile, ‘No sports tonight, let’s keep the conversations about the wedding,'” he explained.
“It was so awkward everyone laughed, and the guys laughed too, then she walked away. About ten minutes later, she stopped an older couple because they were talking about a cruise they’d just come back from.”
“She actually said, and I’m not kidding, ‘You’ll have plenty of time to talk about holidays later; today is about us.’ She kept doing it all night, and it was driving me insane. Notice how she was sucking away the joy from her own wedding. Someone started talking about buying a house; she redirected them. Someone was telling a story about work, and she appeared like Voldemort again.”
His girlfriend then began talking to one of her cousins, whom she had not seen in years, and the bride swooped in and insisted that the two of them should share their favorite memories of her and the groom.
He was so taken aback by how childish and insecure the bride was being. This was some next-level attention-seeking behavior that he had never witnessed before.
He grew concerned that his girlfriend is actually friends with a woman like this. On the car ride home, he talked about the bride’s behavior with his girlfriend, because he thought he might have been making it up; that’s how out of the ordinary the day was.
His girlfriend just replied that the bride did the same thing at the engagement party.
Wow, that bride is unhinged! I am shocked that his girlfriend still intends to be friends with the bride after all of this. A wedding is all about bringing people together, but it’s not about only discussing the bride, the groom, and the event itself.
It’s just so ridiculous that the bride was busy policing her guests for not being on brand.
