This young woman’s brother, who is 39, has a 15-year-old daughter named Piper. And unfortunately, her niece has had a pretty difficult life.

When Piper was just 4-years-old, her mother passed away. Still, her brother tried to keep his late wife’s memory alive and made sure to tell Piper everything he could about her.

Her brother and Piper also had some special pictures of Piper and her mother that were treasured in their family.

But, by the time Piper turned 6, she began getting teased by a girl at school named Nancy. Now, Nancy is also 15, but back in elementary school, Nancy bullied Piper for over a year.

Then, everything eventually came to a head after Piper brought in a picture of her mom for show and tell, and Nancy tore up the picture.

“From that day on, Piper did not like Nancy,” she recalled.

Due to the incident, though, her brother decided to meet Nancy’s mom. And after that, the pair eventually became friends before they started dating.

Then, just one year after the torn-up photo incident, her brother and Nancy’s mom actually got married.

While Nancy was honestly happy about the new relationship and tried to become closer to Piper, though, Piper was just not interested.

“Piper pulled away from my brother when she found out he was dating Nancy’s mom, and even more when they moved in together and got married,” she explained.

Nonetheless, at one point, Nancy’s mom suggested that Piper and Nancy being sisters now might actually mend the rift between them. And honestly, she thought that was insane, given how much bullying had happened.

It appears Nancy’s mom was wrong, too, because recently, her brother brought up how he really thought Piper and Nancy would have gotten closer by now. But, Piper still does not trust Nancy or want anything to do with her.

So, during that conversation with her brother, she decided to be frank– telling him how he moved way too fast in his relationship.

After all, he and Nancy’s mom started dating before Nancy even apologized to Piper. At the same time, Piper was upset about her brother dating the mother of her bully in addition to having Nancy in her life more following the wedding.

“I told him at no point did he try to make what happened better for Piper,” she said.

Her brother wound up claiming that he thought the marriage license would just somehow get rid of Piper’s hurt and all of the bullying she went through for over a year.

She couldn’t understand that, though, and told him that the girls maybe could have mended their relationship if he had given it more time and had Nancy apologize.

Plus, if the girls were given some space to interact outside of school when they were not yet living together.

But that’s just not what happened. Instead, Nancy was excited to have a sibling and a dad after only ever growing up with a mom; meanwhile, Piper was just angry and hurt.

Her brother apparently took her perspective wrong, though, and accused her of expecting him to let Piper just dictate his life. But that’s far from what she meant.

“I said if he wanted Piper to be happy and embrace Nancy as a sibling, then he should have taken things more slowly to get that outcome,” she vented.

Her brother was not having it, though, and told her it was none of her business. He also accused her of overstepping and claimed that she was just his little sister.

So now, in the wake of their argument, she has been left wondering whether calling out her brother for moving too fast in his relationship.

Is it understandable why Piper has been so upset that Nancy, her bully, was brought into her family and home? Was it her brother’s responsibility to make sure the transition was easier for his daughter? Could a marriage license or forced sisterhood ever mend a relationship alone? Do you think she did the right thing by being honest with her brother?
