Working in healthcare comes with its own set of challenges, but for TikToker Chloe (@chloecroshaw), the biggest challenge was the doctor she worked for.
“I work for a doctor, and he’s objectively the worst one in the entire city that I work in,” Chloe began.
One day, she was monitoring the text line that patients can use to communicate and ask questions, and a lady ended up calling about some side effects with her medication.
Chloe knew the doctor did not like this patient because she often took longer during her appointments. Still, it was Chloe’s job to pass along the patient’s concern.
When she asked the doctor about the medication’s side effects, he started freaking out. He threw down his papers and told her that she was not allowed to answer the phone again.
He also did not want to hear anything about that patient and refused to answer the question properly.
He proceeded to shout at Chloe in front of all her coworkers. Afterward, she sat down at her little station to continue working. When someone asked if she was okay, she burst into tears immediately.
The person who asked if she was okay was actually the doctor’s daughter. To make things even more complicated, the office manager was his other daughter, and his wife was the other office manager.
The next day, the doctor’s wife called Chloe into her office and told her that her husband just liked to teach his employees whenever he could.

She claimed that he was not getting mad at her publicly but was using that opportunity to teach everyone in the office.
Chloe knew better. No one else in the clinic did her job, so there was no lesson for anyone else to learn. But then came the worst part of the entire conversation with the office manager/wife.
“She says, ‘Also, I know in nursing school they teach you that you need to stand up for your patients even if that means going against the doctor, but we don’t do that here. There’s no need for that here. Whatever this doctor says is the way that we do it,'” Chloe recalled.
Chloe’s job at this clinic was to be a patient advocate, so none of what the office manager was saying made any sense to her. She still thinks about the conversation every day. The story resonated with many TikTok users, many of whom had similar experiences.
“I’ve worked in a clinic for over 10 years. Do not work in an office where the doctor’s family members are running the office or are employees there. It never goes well. They have horrible turnover rates for a reason,” commented one user.
“I would call this patient and strongly suggest they seek out a different doctor because this doctor doesn’t have her best interests in mind. She deserves compassionate care. She deserves care from someone who genuinely cares about her well-being,” stated another.
“I’d love to say that this is rare, but I have met so many doctors who act like this (I work in a hospital). The most frustrating part is when they turn it on and off. In front of patients, they act super kind and friendly, and then they go to the dictation room where they promptly turn into the devil,” added a third.
