She went into her relationship with eyes wide open, knowing his past could complicate their own romance, but she never expected to become her boyfriend’s rebound girl.
While she was dreaming of a future with this man, he was building a bridge to get back together with the woman he’s no longer married to, and whom he swore he left behind. She didn’t go looking to get into a love triangle, but sadly, she walked into someone else’s unfinished love story.
Back in June, this 36-year-old woman began dating her 37-year-old boyfriend, who actually got divorced not too long ago. In March of 2024, her boyfriend officially separated from his ex-wife after being married to her for five years. Her boyfriend and his ex share a toddler son together, so it’s not like they could completely cut ties.
She originally met her boyfriend on a dating app, and when he mentioned that he had been married before, it made her hesitate, as she knew it could be kind of a sticky situation to be involved with a divorced man.
“But we just clicked on everything, from politics to music, and everything in between. We enjoyed each other’s company, and he really put in the effort. We even went on a trip to New York to watch a musical we really loved,” she explained.
“A few days ago, I just received a text message that he wanted to break up. At first, he didn’t want even to call me, let alone talk to me face to face. Eventually, I convinced him to talk on the phone. His revelations put me in shock.”
“He said he’s still in love with his ex-wife and wants to reconcile with her. He said that they started talking again shortly before our New York trip, and ‘it snowballed’ from there. Moreover, they have been going to couples therapy for about a month now and have been sleeping together behind my back.”
Making this even uglier? Well, her boyfriend’s ex-wife has been in a serious relationship herself. Her boyfriend revealed that he’s convinced his ex-wife will leave this other man for him.
She feels puzzled and can’t understand why her boyfriend would cheat on her with his ex. She made it clear to her boyfriend that she was super insecure about him being married before, and he would always insist his ex was nothing more than a co-parent in his life. So much for that, she was the other woman!

She decided to contact a friend of her boyfriend to see how serious the situation is with his ex, and this friend believes her boyfriend’s ex is toying with him.
“But going to couples therapy and sleeping together multiple times? Those are choices. I know I shouldn’t want him back after all the cheating and betrayal, but the thing is, I do. I’m not in contact with him whatsoever now. Please help me,” she continued.
I think the worst thing she can do is wait around for him to want her back or try to convince him to pick her over his ex-wife. The only thing to do here is to find someone else to date and move on with her life, because there’s no way she can ever trust this guy after what he did.
