TikToker Kait (@kaitmerrymanart) is 26 years old, and she went on a date so bad that it was the only date she bothered going on in all of 2025.

All her friends are married or in serious long-term relationships, and she was feeling a little lonely, so she decided to download a dating app.

She matched with a guy, and they planned a date. They met up at a bar near her house. He seemed pretty nice, and they started chatting right away.

She told him about her career. She was a full-time artist who also taught painting classes. Her date was excited about learning how to paint and asked if she had supplies at her house.

So, they went back to her place, and he immediately noticed her pagan altar full of tarot cards and oracle decks. She explained that she often gave people readings.

He told her that he didn’t believe in any of that stuff, which was fine by her. She got out the paint supplies, but he wouldn’t stop criticizing tarot cards and other tools of divination.

Finally, Kait asked him if he wanted her to do a reading on him. He agreed, claiming that he was open to being proven wrong.

“I have dated too many guys who I find out, like five or six dates in, that they still live with their ex-girlfriend, and obviously, I don’t want that to happen again,” Kait said.

“So, I had asked him before we went on this date, when his last relationship ended.”

He told her that it had been three years since his last relationship ended. He was single and focused on his career. She sat down and started pulling his cards.

Right away, she got the feeling that he had been lying to her. She asked him if his last relationship actually ended three days ago, not three years ago. His face went pale.

She continued with the reading and gathered a lot of information about him. The cards were telling her that he was still not over his ex, and that they had been together for at least a couple of years. They were actually planning on having kids.

She asked him if they had been planning on having kids when the reason why they broke up suddenly hit her. She followed up with a question about whether they had broken up because the girl wasn’t getting pregnant. His face went stark white, and he started bawling.

He was hysterical and pointed at the cards, asking how she knew all that. He explained that he really wanted to have kids and thought she was infertile.

When Kait pulled out another card, she told him that he was actually the problem and needed to see a fertility doctor.

“I felt called to tell him, too,” said Kait. “This is ridiculous, like you need to really reflect on your actions, because it was also clear that he wasn’t really communicating with her. Like, he had this bitter energy toward her because she wasn’t getting pregnant, and it wasn’t even her fault.”

Kait was stunned and didn’t want this guy in her home any longer. However, he refused to leave because he was too upset and felt that it wouldn’t be safe for him to drive. He was crying about how terrible a person he was.

Kait tried to comfort him, telling him that it wasn’t too late to salvage things. She still felt that there was a lot of love between him and his ex, and they could make it work if he was honest with her.

Overall, it was a pretty weird first date. She concluded that she was much too odd an individual to be going on dates with people from dating apps.
