About a month ago, TikToker Mia (@mommamia_3.0) started talking to a guy who had been friends with her on Facebook for a while. He reached out first, messaging her quite frequently and being very complimentary.
One conversation led to another, and he ended up telling her that he was no longer seeing that girl he was in a relationship with. From the way he described the situation, the relationship was over.
So, they decided to hang out. They met up and spent the evening bar hopping. They had drinks and danced together. They even shared nachos in the back of a bar at the end of the night. Other than that, nothing really happened between them.
He continued to message her after their date. He was in a band and also performed some solo gigs on the side. The lead singer of the band he was in even told Mia that his relationship with the other girl was on the outs. The reassurance made Mia feel more confident that she wasn’t stepping on anyone’s toes.
But a week later, Mia noticed that the girl he was supposedly not with updated her profile picture. The photo appeared to be recent, and it was of the two of them hanging out at a bar.
They looked very much like a couple. It was not exactly the behavior of two people who had already gone their separate ways. Of course, Mia confronted him about it.
To make a long story short, he did not yet have a conversation with the other girl about breaking up because he was “trying to do things the right way.” That explanation raised more red flags than it resolved.
As Mia dug deeper, the situation became even messier. The other girl is also a mom, and he surprised her with a trip for Mother’s Day, according to a post on social media. He spent the day doting on her and spoiling her.
Apparently, he lives with her. From what Mia gathered, it seems he is trying to secure a job and build up his savings before leaving her.
Mia considered telling the other girl about his plans, but decided against it. In her experience, it always ends up backfiring, and she becomes the villain while the couple stays together. So, she’s choosing to remove herself from the drama altogether.
If there’s one lesson she took from the dating experience, it’s that you should never take a man’s word at face value and make sure to do your homework before going out with a man to uncover what he’s trying to hide.
“I don’t send the hey girly texts, and I will be damned if my name and homewrecker are in the same sentence,” said Mia. “Absolutely not. This is why I don’t trust men.”
