Recently, TikToker Tracie (@tracie.love) moved to California for some contract work. She was newly single and had decided to start dating again.
However, she ended up going on a date that sent her to the hospital and left her permanently scarred. Five months after the accident, she is able to work as a nurse again.
So, she had matched with a guy on a dating app. They met up and hit it off. They planned to do a group hangout with their friends. On the day of the group date, he showed up on a motorcycle. It was the first and only time she would ride a motorcycle.
“This is kind of the part where I get really embarrassed because my whole life, I have told my dad not to get a motorcycle, told my friends never to get on one,” said Tracie.
“I’m a nurse. I know the leading cause of death is motorcycles. So, I don’t know what I was thinking.”
This man was tall, gorgeous, an actor, and totally her type, so of course, she convinced herself that everything would be fine. She put on the motorcycle jacket and helmet and mounted the bike.
It was super fun for the first 10 minutes, but she got a little scared when they drove onto the highway.
Long story short, they got into an accident. She saw everything happen in slow motion. All she really remembers is sliding on the pavement into the middle of the road. Luckily, she managed to stay conscious to avoid getting run over by other vehicles on the road.
When she turned around to look behind her, she saw an 18-wheeler headed straight for her. The truck was honking loudly. She used every ounce of her strength to crawl to the side of the road and rolled into a ditch.

Her date was farther down the road, and his body was sprawled out. She limped over to him with only one shoe on to make sure he was okay.
She checked his pulse and could feel a heartbeat. At the same time, she tried to flag people down for help, but no one stopped. Finally, someone pulled over.
They were taken to the hospital in separate ambulances and stayed in rooms right next to each other. He had a bunch of fractures. She didn’t have any broken bones, but the skin on her hand had been completely ripped off.
“When you have skin injuries, it is one of the worst injuries you can possibly have because of the pain,” said Tracie. “My dressing changes take around two hours, and it was the most painful thing ever. I was out from work for around a month and a half.”
Now, she has learned her lesson about unquestioningly trusting someone she doesn’t really know to drive a motorcycle.
