When TikToker Ashley (@ashkatpod) was 13 years old, her mom sent her to adult county jail. The night before she went to county jail, she snuck out of the house to go to a party where she drank liquor for the very first time.
She gulped down a bottle of vodka, not knowing she was supposed to take shots of it. She hardly remembers anything that happened during the party because she ended up getting extremely sick. She had to stay at a friend’s house until the next morning.
Her friend gave her a ride back home at 9 a.m. Ashley tried to sneak back in through her window, but she was still wasted. She fell and broke her mirror that was standing nearby in the room. The mirror shattered everywhere, and she was cut by the broken glass. Blood trickled down her wrist.
Her mom heard all the commotion and came running. She called the ambulance because she was worried about Ashley. The paramedics checked Ashley’s blood levels and said that she was just really drunk.
So then, she and her mom started fighting. Ashley finally took a shower, still incredibly hungover. When she was done, her mom continued screaming and yelling at her.
Ashley dropped her towel and started swinging her fists. She and her mother got into a physical fight. She told her mother to leave her alone so she could recover before getting yelled at.
Her mother instructed her to do the dishes after dinner, so she did. Suddenly, the front door opened, and two police officers walked in. They came right up to her and arrested her.
“At this point, I didn’t realize I was going to an adult jail,” said Ashley. “I didn’t know I was joining some program. They take me to the adult jail.”
The woman who was doing Ashley’s intake paperwork kept insulting her hair and pointing out how bad she looked and smelled. They were bickering back and forth for a while.

Ashley was given a small box that contained some sheets, a blanket, a roll of toilet paper, two tampons, and one pair of underwear.
She was then put in a cell with five grown women. They made her clean their dirty underwear in a little sink with the fresh soap from her box. From the corner of her eye, Ashley could see one of the women rifling through her box while she was scrubbing away.
When she was done scrubbing, she went back to her bunk. The intake lady said she needed to make her bed, but her bedding had disappeared. A guard had to get her bedding back from that one woman, and she proceeded to make her bed.
Everyone stood around her, yelling at her for not making the bed properly. They pointed out every single crease and wrinkle in her sheets. This whole time, Ashley still had a wicked hangover.
At the end of the night, Ashley had to call her mom so she could decide if she should stay another night or go home. On the phone, she pretended she had learned her lesson and promised that no more bad behavior would come from her.
“I know for a fact that this did not do anything for me,” said Ashley. “I have not changed in the slightest. If anything, it’s made me hate her even more.”
“Now I’m even more mad at her. Now I’m going to be even more rebellious. Like, I knew in the back of my head that this just made things 10 times worse.”
As soon as she returned home, she went right back to her same old shenanigans.
