If you’re married and making friends with people of the opposite gender, do you think you should tell them that you’re not exactly single, or keep that a secret?

This 36-year-old woman has been married to her 35-year-old husband for the last decade, and she’s still so happy to be with him.

Her husband has a side job working at a nightclub on his weekends so he can make extra money, and not too long ago, he made a new female friend at work.

This girl is not his coworker; she was just a girl hanging out at the club that her husband happened to befriend. Her husband has spent the last three days texting her, and she had no idea up until a couple of hours ago that this girl existed.

“He told me about it on day 3, stating that they wanted to hang out. Strictly platonic. Now, I did have the conversation about boundaries,” she explained.

“It’s been 3 days and [he] hasn’t mentioned that he’s married…I told him that’s shady and probably leading this woman on, which isn’t his intention. But he also said he didn’t want to scare her away, and that hasn’t come up in conversation.”

“I told him that’s not appropriate, but I also don’t want to approach this in a negative manner. He also stated that he would absolutely state it now that we have spoken about it.”

But right before she had that chat with her husband, he did talk to that girl on the phone, and that only added to her anxiety. In the last decade, her husband has not done anything to ruin the trust she has in him, and he promised nothing would happen between him and his new friend.

She’s worried she might just be acting insecure, but it really bothers her that her husband didn’t tell his new friend about him being married as soon as he met her.

Her husband did try to say that because he didn’t go to college and have that experience, he never learned how to properly make new friends, and that’s his excuse for why he’s withholding the fact that he’s married.

She’s left wondering if she’s been overdramatic since she’s so upset about what her husband did.

I’m wondering if her husband also doesn’t wear his wedding ring at work, since this girl has no clue that he’s married. But anyway, her husband is acting in an alarming way.

She shouldn’t put up with this, and it’s absurd to me that her husband told her that he doesn’t want to scare off his new friend by admitting he’s married.

That alone makes it seem like he’s looking to this girl for more than friendship.

Does this sound fishy to you?
