The moment that TikToker Alexa (@am0ra94) knew without a doubt that her marriage was over was when her husband revealed that he was in love with another girl he worked with.
Their marriage had been rocky long before she found out about the affair. In December 2016, she found out she was pregnant, but she ended up having a miscarriage in January 2017.
A couple of months later, she fell pregnant again, and it was a boy. For some reason, she thought having a baby would prevent her then-husband from cheating on her.
Throughout the pregnancy, she gained a lot of weight and was the heaviest she had ever been in her life. On November 5, 2017, she gave birth. By August 2018, her husband had already met the girl he would divorce Alexa for. They were coworkers.
Alexa was a stay-at-home mom for 10 years. She was solely raising the kids, while her husband was working full-time. From 2018 to 2019, she could tell something was off with him.
When he got home from work, he never interacted with the kids. He was pursuing a career in gaming, so he would come home and immediately start streaming and gaming.
“In October 2019, I look over in my bedroom, and I see this man I just don’t recognize anymore, sitting in the corner of our bed, smiling, and I’m like, there is no possible way on this earth that is because of me,” recalled Alexa.
“Because I have been crying to him and complaining like, you don’t love me anymore. Like, what is going on?”
So, finally, she asked him to tell her what was happening with him. He didn’t want to because he thought she would get mad. That’s when Alexa knew she had caught him red-handed, and her instincts had been right the whole time.
He revealed that he liked a girl at work. At the time, their son wasn’t even one year old yet.
“I can’t describe to you the feeling I felt,” said Alexa. “Not only was I finally validated, because I have known, I kept calling him out.”
“I kept telling him, I feel like you’re cheating on me…but that was the exact moment that I knew we were over forever. Things were just never the same after that.”
Some TikTok users took to the comments section to express their sympathies and describe similar experiences.
“I’m sorry you went through that. I know how it feels. I was four months postpartum when my children’s father threw everything away for a coworker who was 12 years younger than him, who, in the end, didn’t even want him either. Our daughter was seven years old at the time, and it was literally the same week I found out my brother got his cancer diagnosis,” shared one user.
“Even though it was probably the most painful thing you could have heard, it’s probably the best thing he’s ever done for you. I’ve always told my boyfriend that if his feelings ever change for me, he has to let me know, no matter how much it hurts and how hard it will be for me to hear. It’s better than living in a lie,” commented another.
