VoIP apps are about a dime a dozen these days, but KeKu seems to be worth a look if you’re searching for a good Skype and Vonage Mobile alternative. KeKu offers low international rates and the ability to make calls using the service directly from your contacts list.
Even better is the fact that KeKu can work with any phone, sans the app. All you have to do is sign up for an account, add credit to your account, and KeKu will assign a local phone number for you to use when making a call to an international contact. The whole process is super simple, and unlike most other services – including Skype, using the app is optional.
And international rates are super competitive too. For example, Skype charges 13.8¢ a minute to call Israel mobile phones, while KeKu’s rate is just 3.6¢!
Calls can be made over Wi-Fi and 3G/4G data networks, but keep in mind that if you need to make a lot of calls, VoIP apps can eat up data in a hurry and leave you with a pretty nasty bill if you don’t have an unlimited data plan.
