The Net Worth Of Britney Spears, Plus Why The Internet Is Now Trying To Free Her

Britney Spears isn’t just a pop icon; she’s THE icon. She was pretty much the queen of the 2000s… until she hit 2007.

That year, Britney went through a highly-publicized breakdown, and I’m sure you remember the photos of her partially shaved head that hit covers of newspapers everywhere.

Right after that, Britney bounced in and out of rehab, lost custody of her sons, and faced accusations from her bodyguard of abusing her children.

In 2008, a court placed Britney in a conservatorship, leaving her father Jamie Spears and a few lawyers in charge of her finances.

As part of all this, Britney’s finances have been disclosed, which means we know exactly what her net worth is.

Rumors have swirled online recently that Britney is worth around $250 million dollars or more, but documents filed in court state that Britney is worth $59 million dollars as of last year.

Most of what Britney has is invested in various things, including businesses and real estate.

Her pile of best-selling albums helped contribute to her net worth, in addition to her 10 different tours.

According to Touring Data, Britney raked in approximately $54.6 million dollars for her 2018 Piece of Me tour.

Another eye-opening figure?

She earned more than $100 million dollars from her first residency in Las Vegas and by the time she started up her second one, she was pulling in $500,000 for every show she performed in.

Britney has also done many endorsements and licensing deals, been in movies, appeared on TV, released fragrances, and launched clothing lines.

She also currently has a website where she sells different things like t-shirts, hats, and champagne flutes.

So why is the internet now trying to free her?

The Free Britney movement is hardly new to social media, but it has gained momentum again in light of recent news.

Earlier this month Britney won a petition to add more members to the legal team that’s part of her conservatorship, which made headlines and had people talking even more about what’s going on.

Britney’s conservatorship is the reason why so many fans are demanding she needs to be freed, and Paris Hilton even commented on it in her new YouTube documentary “This Is Paris.”

She said, “After just working her whole life and working so hard…she’s just this icon. I just feel like she has no control of her life whatsoever and I just don’t think that’s fair.”

But according to court documents filed by one of her lawyers, Britney isn’t being held against her will at all.

Britney’s participation in the conservatorship is now “voluntary” but she does not want her father Jamie to be the sole conservator, which he currently is.

A recent filing states, “Britney strongly believes it is consistent not only with her personal best interests but also with good public policy generally that the decision to appoint a new conservator of her estate be made in as open and transparent a manner as possible.”
