After Celebrating At Her 21st Birthday Party, She Was Discovered Close To Death Along A Highway Under Mysterious Circumstances: It’s Been 25 Years Since Her Murder And There Are Still More Questions Than Answers In Her Cold Case

“I remember laying down with Laura, Sam was in the middle of us. She was nursing Sam while I fell asleep next to them. Laura shuffling around woke me up, she told me she had to go get a diaper. I would also like to point out that above you said in the original police report, SKB (this is Sarah) said she found Sam without a diaper on.”

“That adds some validity to what I witnessed. The rest of this is what I assume happened, not what I witnessed but what makes sense to me. It was late October in the Midwest, it was probably about 50-55° and windy. So, she grabs a jacket (I have no ideas where the second pair of pants came from. Maybe she had them in the van inside her tote bag with the other random things) Now she didn’t know she had forgotten the diaper bag in Bonaparte at this point.”

“She goes to check the van, but only finds her tote bag with no extra diapers. I would also like to mention this was not the first time Laura came to stay with us. About a year before she came to stay with us for a week, she was familiar with Kahoka. What happened after that is what everyone wants to know, who hit her? Anne, when we spoke on the phone you mentioned a car of people yelling things at her, was that lead ever followed up on by MSHP?”

“Some more info because it’s never mentioned in the news articles; SKB (Sarah) and TB (Sarah’s husband) have both willing gave DNA to Iowa and Missouri. They also allowed their house and vehicle to be searched. SKB and TB have always cooperated with law enforcement when investigators came to ask more questions over the last 25 years.”

“Truck driver gets cleared because there was no evidence found on his truck, but there was also no evidence found on Bergman’s van or in their home. Laura was our family too. We all want to know what happened.”

“There never was any motive for this family to want to harm one of our own. Not only was there no motive, but she was ALIVE for 3 hours after she was found. Where is the intent for murder? Someone hit her and left her alive. As Sam said to me in a recent conversation “if she had a cell phone back then she’d probably still be alive.”
