A 46-year-old woman has a younger sister who is 30 and growing up, they had absolutely nothing.

Their family was not rich, and so that’s partially what motivated her to go on to become a nurse, and now money is not a stressor for her.

In contrast, her sister didn’t get a job, she got a man who could provide for her and pay for everything in her life.

“My sister found a “sugar daddy” (around her same age though) who is an absolutely awful, emotionally abusive human being in general,” she explained.

“But he makes a TON of money as VP of a major company and lavishes her with expensive things, so she married him.”

“Our family doesn’t like him much, but we tolerate him for my sister’s sake. They go on luxurious vacations monthly & he buys her whatever she wants- brand-name handbags, expensive jewelry, you name it.”

Her sister does not work at all because her sister’s husband literally pays for everything. In light of her sister’s new lavish lifestyle, her sister has become a completely different person.

She feels like she has no idea who her sister even is now, and she doesn’t enjoy spending time with her at all.

Her sister is selfish, showy, and only cares about money or the things money can buy.

Another thing about her sister she has grown upset about is that her sister uses social media to send along a daily update of her spending.

Her sister and sister’s husband pretty much send her photos on a daily basis of the new things they buy or the crazy vacations they go on together.

Lately, the social media “bragging” has gotten out of control and the final straw for her was when her sister took a vacation and proceeded to send her hourly updates on everything.

As her sister was out there living large, she was pulling 12 hour long shifts caring for seriously ill patients.

“I hit a breaking point when I was at home drinking wine after a particularly tough shift and my sister sent me a picture of her sitting on the beach holding a very expensive necklace that her husband bought her on the island with the caption “Awww, look what _____ bought me!”

“Not even 2 minutes later, her husband sending me a similar photo, just a slightly different angle, and captioning it “Your sister is sooo spoiled!” I took a sip of wine, thought how much happier I would feel if I didn’t have to look at these photos every day, & just deleted them both from my account without another thought.”

She couldn’t believe how free she felt having to no longer look at the crap her sister was sending.

She knows her sister is home from vacation, but her sister has completely ignored her. Yesterday, her mom mentioned to her that her sister was upset that she got deleted from her social media account.

She didn’t feel bad though because she was tired of her sister rubbing everything in her face.

“I would love to quit working and spend my life on vacations and blowing money,” she concluded.

“My jealousy definitely is an issue. But in the meantime, while I work on that, I found that if I remove these things that bother me, I feel better. So that’s what I did. Now I just need help explaining WHY I did it, without hurting feelings.”

How can she let her sister know that the constant messages and updates on her expensive life are too overwhelming?
