This Guy Got A Single Mom’s Number As A Prank And Outraged The TikTok Community

Recording and posting pranks on TikTok has become a ticket to fame for many users. These pranks often take place in stores like Walmart or Target and can be humorous from time to time.
But, at what point is a “prank” taken too far?
One TikToker named Ethan, a contributor to the “SusDudes” TikTok account @Sus4life, has spurred controversy over his latest prank. In it, Ethan targets and flirts with a single mother in Target.
“You’re not single, are you?” Ethan asked while approaching a woman named Jenn in the toy section. She was with her son, Layne, who sat in the shopping cart.
After Jenn said she was, in fact, single, Ethan said, “So what does that mean? Should I get your number?”
The pair ended up bantering over their ages– Jenn is thirty-eight years old, and Ethan said he is “over twenty-one”– while Ethan complimented Jenn’s appearance. Then, Jenn skeptically gave Ethan her number.
“I’ll give you my number and see if you call,” she said. After, Ethan had the nerve to jokingly clap with Jenn’s son and look back towards the camera.
“I’m getting your mom’s number, yay! Yay, your mom’s number,” Ethan said through laughter while waving toward the camera.

He posted the video on January 31st, and it has since gained over 5.4 million views. With hashtags like “#hotmoms” and “#pranks” included in the caption, many viewers are angered by Ethan’s intent to toy with a single mom’s feelings for views.
“You better call, bro. She is a single mother. Don’t mess with her emotions; it isn’t cool. At least have the talk beforehand,” one user commented, gaining over five thousand likes.
“These pranks are middle school bs. Don’t make people feel special as a joke,” wrote a second user.
“Don’t prank us single moms! We are actually lonely,” added a single mom herself.
The woman, Jenn, also found out her interaction with Ethan was circulating online. She disapproved of the prank entirely.
“Hi, I am the Jenn in this video. I think that these kinds of ‘pranks’ are ridiculous. Please do a better job of blurring my face, Ethan,” she wrote.
Jenn also reposted Ethan’s video on her own TikTok account, @jlo27916, and attempted to turn the negative interaction into a lighthearted joke.
“I’m now lowkey TikTok famous,” Jenn said.
Over two hundred people commented on Jenn’s video and continued to voice their disgust toward Ethan’s idea of a joke.
“Honestly, it is sad that someone would do this to another person as a ‘joke’ for views. We single moms have real lives and real feelings,” commented one user.
“Seriously! I feel the same. I already deal with inconsistent men my age– I don’t need younger ones too. I have to work and be a mom of three. I really do not have the time or energy to get involved in s**t like this. My time is honestly valuable, but he didn’t see it that way,” Jenn responded.
