At the family BBQ she and Megan both went to, Megan watched as her children were playing in the backyard.
“Megan sighed and then turned to me and said that if I had children they’d be here with us and doing this and that that very day,” she explained.
“I stopped eating and looked at her in disbelief. Her husband smirked and said, “yeah, Little Timmy would be running with the ball from all the other kids right now.” I was so hurt and upset I snapped.”
“I looked at Megan and her husband and said “why do you keep talking about my “hypothetical” children? Are you tired of talking about yours?”
Megan’s draw jobbed, and then she, Megan, and Megan’s husband began arguing. Her mom and aunt tried to keep the peace, as Megan accused her of being the rude one.
Her mom tried to get her to say sorry to Megan, thinking Megan’s words were just something she misunderstood.
She said to her mom that it wasn’t something she just misinterpreted, because Megan always wants to bring up her children that she didn’t have.
Megan started sobbing, and she left the BBQ. Her husband had not been there with her, and when she got back home and informed him of what Megan said, he started crying.
“Mom called me saying making a scene at the family BBQ was over the line and said that Megan and her husband AND aunt are upset because they think I snapped at them for no reason,” she said.
Her mom still wants her to say sorry to Megan and move on, but she’s not willing to overlook Megan’s hurtful words anymore.
