She’s Sharing A PSA To Always Wash Clothes After Purchasing Because Even Store Staff Sometimes Wear The Inventory Before Selling It

After visiting the mall to buy a blouse or pair of pants, have you ever worn an item without washing it?
Most people know this is not the best idea. First, the garments could have been collecting dust on a shelf or even fallen off a hanger and onto the floor a few times.
Second, the items have likely been tried on by numerous other potential customers in the shop.
Yet, while most consumers know these realities, some people still do not wash their clothing store items.
So, if you are someone who needed an extra push to make that change, a former retail worker named Dana just spilled some even more concerning beans about retail clothing on TikTok.
More specifically, how even clothing store staff are contributing to the dirtying of merchandise.
“I used to work in a clothing store, and we were not allowed to wear clothes from other brands or other stores. And, my manager especially liked it if you wore stuff from the new collection to promote it,” Dana began.
But, she revealed how most of her coworkers did not really shop at the store. In turn, they did not actually own any of the necessary clothes and were forced to use inventory.

“What ended up happening most of the time was that we would just go through the store, take a garment that was not sold yet, take off the tag, put it on, and then work our shift,” Dana said.
“You work all day; you’re sweating. And then, at the end of your shift, you take off your clothes, put the tag back on, and put it back into the store,” she continued.
And if you are thinking, “how gross,” Dana did, too. She only posted the TikTok to spread awareness that washing clothes after buying is imperative.
“This is my PSA to please wash your clothes after buying them,” Dana finished.
Her TikTok also prompted a slew of other retail workers to share their own experiences while working retail– and they are just as concerning.
“When I worked in a clothing store, I worked in the back and did not have a table. So, I had to sort through the clothing on the floor, and everything got so dirty,” one user commented.
“Once, a customer asked for the size I was wearing. I ‘checked’ in the back just to change into a bigger size so that way she could try mine on without knowing,” another user revealed.
So, the next time you go shopping, make sure you wash everything as soon as you get home. You never know how much bacteria a garment from a brick-and-mortar store could be harboring.
