The real icing on the cake, though, was how her husband claimed he was going to “teach her a lesson.” Apparently, he decided to miss his shift at work and said that would symbolize how her lack of cooperation and refusal to help him iron his uniform could cost them the money that supports their household.
Obviously, she was beyond pissed off at her husband after that and called him insane for choosing to miss a shift instead of just ironing his own uniform like a grown adult.
That comment totally sent her husband over the edge, though.
“He got offended and called me a hypocrite for both calling him insane and acting all surprised when it was me who caused this situation to happen,” she explained.
And now, in retrospect, she realizes that she could have maybe taken some time away from her chores to iron her husband’s uniform. At the same time, though, she recognizes that her husband’s reaction was seriously over the top.
Oh, and if you were wondering why her husband did not just iron the uniform himself, that’s because her husband claimed it was “on her list” of house chores. And she admitted to that being true.
Understandably, though, she does not really rank her husband’s uniform ironing as a “high priority” compared to other more important things, like her kids’ homework or dinner preparation.
So anyway, she has been left feeling totally confused since their fight and is wondering whether her husband acted like a total jerk or if she really was in the wrong for not ironing his work uniform.
Do you think her husband had a right to freak out on her like that? If you are a stay-at-home parent, does that mean you automatically have to cater to the working parent’s needs at the drop of a hat? How would you have handled this situation had you been in her shoes?
